QUOTE(Duckies @ May 14 2012, 03:16 PM) Juice Defender Ultimate is quite good but have to do a bit manual settings because by default it disables wifi and data plan when the screen is locked. So unless u wake ur phone up,u wont get any notifications from whatsapp or facebook. you can always set schedule to run at 15mins or so to ensure you get the push notifications. |

QUOTE(kurogane @ May 14 2012, 10:25 PM) Thanks a lot uncle benny! I find my performance with 3G quite bad with XXLPT, plus I'm getting a ton of wakelocks related to l2_hsic so I want to try flashing back XXLB2 (reputedly best battery saving modem) to see if it makes battery life better. I had problems with l2_hsic keeping my GNote from sleeping.I will report back later whether good or bad. But I don't think it's related to the modem. l2_hsic is a kernel wakeup, probably it's related to the kernel instead of modem |

QUOTE(kurogane @ May 14 2012, 11:02 PM) The reason why I suspect modem is due to HSIC is supposedly the interface used by the chip to connect to the modem (yes modem is connected via USB lol). You can read a little about it here: http://www.grandmax.net/2011/10/samsungs-e...-technical.html ok.. give us an update tomorrow.Thus... why I'm trying out LB2 modem, which is reputedly the best power-saving modem out for Note so far (in fact a lot of ROM cookers seem to prefer it). I was previously on DarkyROM 3.4 with the same modem and it was doing a good job at battery life. Anyways, flashed LB2 already. No problem with air interfaces so far, but the real test will be tomorrow I had to keep restarting the device to avoid l2_hsic from creeping up every once in a while. That's frustrating.. |

QUOTE(kurogane @ May 15 2012, 08:55 PM) OK, I managed to somewhat get a little better battery life back on stock ICS XXLPY by doing three things: try disabling all the sounds (Keytones, Touch sounds, Screen lock sound) and give it a try. 1. Use LB2 modem 2. Uninstalled com.samsung.map (MessageNotificationService) 3. Disabled fast dormancy (in doubt, but no harm it seems!) After that, I noticed a big drop in the l2_hsic kernel wakelock and phone goes in to deep sleep a lot more now. Improved my battery life by 10% over the same usage pattern. This may or may not work for everyone, but so far I suspect the com.samsung.map is constantly doing something with the network thus generating a lot of wakelocks. Still can't get rid of the AudioOut_1 wakelocks though, but as of now, battery life is a little more acceptable to me. I have significant less AudioOut wake locks after that.. |

Flashing Abyss 4.2 kernel directly from Mobile Odin Pro with "Wipe data and cache" checked or flash the kernel first after reboot only perform wipe from the recovery?
any difference anyway? or should I do this instead.. Boot to CWM Recovery and flash Abyss 4.2 zip kernel. Then boot again to recovery after finish flashing Abyss kernel. From there do a full wipe then install custom ICS ROM p/s: I'm currently on LPY Kernel ICS German stock ROM This post has been edited by Superman7: May 16 2012, 12:19 AM |
