Hi!
Need a little help here.
I am sorry if I am at the wrong section or the question has been asked trillion of time.
I did use the search button but I couldn't find the answer. sweat.gif

I went to a kedai cuci kereta just now and when I get my car I discovered a 10 cm line starting for the edge of the mirror and curved upward. Was so furious, but of course nobody wanna take responsibility saying the cracked was already there before I sent to washed bla bla bla... so I just left the kedai.

Upon checking, I did took Insurance for the windscreen (etiQa Takaful). The coverage is RM45 for RM300 (15%).

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

My questions are:

1) What is the procedure to make the claim?
2) Can I just go to any repair shop or must be panel?
3) is the insurance for changing the windscreen only? What if I opt for treatment only since my tint is only 11 months old and I can't afford new tint)
3) Can I still drive the car? (I am afraid the whole windscreen suddenly dropped cry.gif )

TQ TQ notworthy.gif

inb4 fast n furious over there -------->

The insurance stated RM300.. If >RM300 how?
I checked with the eTiQa website. No useful info, no list kedai panel, just bunch of no untuk di hubungi.. but nobody pick-up (maybe due to weekend). Can I still drive the car? <--- this is the main concern for the time being

DR Cermin repair windscreen one, u can ask them to try to repair for u..and they also do insu claim

but base on your crack not serious la, u can use the windscreen for a year more.just take a marker and mark each end of the crack line..like this u will know whether the crack go longer anot..

According to my agent:

1) Take photo of both front view & back view (can see number plate) & a close up of the crack.

2) Send to any workshop for repair & get the receipt.

3) After repair, redo step 1.

4) Contact your insurance company & you will up some form. Then they will reimburse for you.

Recently mine also got crack that's why I know. My coverage is RM 500 & the workshop people charge me RM 480.

TS dun worry la..crack like your wont suddenly shatter...well unless u really unlucky get hit by stones. u can let it be 4 a while. when u start panicking n rush to do stuff thats when u get conned n mistakes happen. chill.

so brought my ex gf's kelisa to workshop. i ask d guy there if such a small crack can claim insurance...he said now cannot...he took a crowbar n whack at d small crack a few times until it got really big. Den he look at me n said.."Boss now can claim d" n smiles LOL. afta dat he take pictures. took about a day to kao tim.

one more thing TS, afta u replace ur windscreen, there is a risk of leakage if they din do a good job. take note man.

Thanks for the alerts.

The panick starts just as soon as I discover the crack. Feel so sad because it happened at a carwash BUT other than "I just checked everything yesterday" I don't have any proof to hold 'em responsible. rclxub.gif

I think every kedai nowadays will have the same Modus Operandi by making the crack looks more severe. tongue.gif

Bout the leakage problem. Not all shops offer at least 1 year warranty ke?

Thanks for the alerts.

The panick starts just as soon as I discover the crack. Feel so sad because it happened at a carwash BUT other than "I just checked everything yesterday" I don't have any proof to hold 'em responsible.  rclxub.gif

I think every kedai nowadays will have the same Modus Operandi by making the crack looks  more severe. tongue.gif

Bout the leakage problem. Not all shops offer at least 1 year warranty ke?
*
sure got warranty but duration varies i guess. de leak wont happen so fast. so best u make sure they do a good job. need to open dashboard so even if still under warranty u will be without a car a for a few days. very ma fan.

my Satria had a water leak prob n when i brought it to a few workshops...d first thing they ask me is whether i got change my windscreen b4. luckily 4 me d leak was not fr windscreen.

I checked with the eTiQa website.  No useful info, no list kedai panel, just bunch of no untuk di hubungi.. but nobody pick-up (maybe due to weekend).  Can I still drive the car? <--- this is the main concern for the time being

why cannot drive? go to windscreen repair shop to repair it lor if the replacement cost alot more and you don't want to top up.. to stop the crack from growing over time.

tongue.gif I am more concern on your nephew/niece condition.
Joke aside.. The cracked (my car) is from outside but didn't penetrate through. The cermin feels smooth in the inside. And I drive average 180km/h before this.. need to consider the speed.

Thanks for the heads up.

More question: Will the crack get longer/bigger if the car is always park under the sun?

put a marker pen mark at both end.. then see after 1/2 day or 1day if it grow longer.. some will grow due to glass stresses internally, some will stop..

Please don't send your myvi to P2 SC for windscreen replacement. They will charge you kaw-kaw for that. FYI, SC do not provide windscreen replacement service. What they do is that your car will be sent to a different workshop for the windscreen replacement, and they will just charge you double for that. Why do you want to send to SC when you can skil the middle person and go direct to windscreen shop? Also, your $300 cover may not be enough. I asked a shop last week and they quote me $300++. you may need to top up a bit for the workmanship, but I can guarantee you its wayy cheaper than what P2 quoted.

Another thing, you might be unlucky because nowadays insurance companies have tighten the procedures for windscreen replacement. These days, you need to do a police report in addition to the insurance cover note, car grant, ic and driving license. Not the normal police report, but traffic police where the accident took place.

Worst is that, the company no longer allow workshop to take the pictures themselves, only the company staff are allowed to take the windscreen before and after photos. Really sohigh rules these days. But thats probably just me.

Mine is AmInsurrance (Ambank). The new rule was told to me by the mechanic doing my windscreen. He told me a lot of insurance companies are doing this procedure due to rampant claims for windscreen. Obviously, they're just adding more beurocracy and procedure to make it difficult for us to make claims. Yea, Takaful seems to be doing this kind of procedure as well, but don't quote me on this. Visit any windscreen workshop and ask them about insurance claims. If they can do it for you, they should know what requirements are needed for your particular insurance company.

Personally, I might just consider leaving the cracks for now if I were you. It doesn't look too serious or large. The tint actually helps to prevent the crack from growing bigger, but it will be if you often bump into potholes and follow big lorries too close. Speeding shouldn't be a problem since outside wind pressure doesn't harm the windscreen integrity. If you must know, car windscreens are made to withstand quite big amount of pressure from the front due to its convex shape on the outside. Its weakness is in fact from the inside. A slight bump to the head will easily crack your windscreen. Heck, my 4year old son cracked my 2.0L car just by bumping his melon to it.

Single layer - when it crack, it explode
Double layer - when it crack, another layer will protect it from explosion

Single layer happened to me on highway when I drove 110km/h, true story.

Oi sayang ntan payung.. although I am also a noob.. I do know Single layer or double layer meant the type of windscreen you have installed in your car.. Not as the way to describe how the windscreen exploded tongue.gif
