I don't know which version of the books you're reading, but all the editions I've seen has a map.

Had a 1hour read at Kinokuniya the other day. His style of writing is great. Though, I'm only gonna get the boxset after the final book has released. tongue.gif Though the RM240++ boxset looks so tempting to buy! Comes with a poster-map inside too..

What RM240 box set? I've never seen it before.

PS: Yes, I agree on boxed sets. It is generally best to get them after the series has finished if you're a collector.

RM240++, found one in Borders Berjaya Times Square. Cool looking boxset (big too) with the family insignias printed on the box. 6 books total, with two split into Part 1 & 2. drool.gif

Is it this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Song-Ice-Fire-Volumes/dp/0007477155

If so, there's nothing special about it besides the fact that it is the UK Harper Voyager version which splits book 3 and book 5 up into two parts; thus making 7 books.

Funnily enough, Harper Voyager also has a Dance in Dragons in 1 book as an 'option'. This alternative wasn't available for UK edition readers when book 3 was released.

In my collection, I have book 3 in 2 parts and I have book 5 in one part. I prefer the Voyager version over the Random House ones because fonts are bigger and the paper is of a slightly better quality. It annoyed me greatly when Random House released their international paperback before Voyager. I had to buy the RH version, read it, 'gift' it to a friend then buy the Voyager version so my books match on my shelf vmad.gif

Yup that's the one. So it's 7 books, thought it was 6. Was so tempted to get it, but I've finally made it a point to wait til' the story comes full circle. tongue.gif

Well, in the mean time you could just buy book 3 and book 5 US version. That will save you some money and still allow you to read the books.

Just found this amazing thread for superb song of fire and ice series! Love this series to bits, hands down the best i've ever read and George RR Martin should be knighted!
Started reading this series just a year ago but stopped at book 4 to sync it with the tv series, but the book is still 1000x better than the telly series smile.gif
I love the way mr martin tells the story with very specific details till i can imagine out each scene (thanks to telly series i can put faces to each character), and when he kills off characters, my favorite, as not many authors kills off their book characters easily, thus putting a good spin to this series!
