Don't use a door to door courier such as TNT or DHL for something like this - unless money is no issue.

Search for air cargo agents / freight forwarders and get a quote (make sure you have the weights / dimensions of your luggage to hand) , this will work out far cheaper. You'll have to bring your luggage to cargo hub in Melbourne, and it'll come straight to KLIA Cargo terminal. You have to do custom clearance and the other procedures yourself, but it'll work out a lot cheaper.

Eg. last time I shipped a bike from UK - TNT or DHL would have cost me around £400 (volumetric weight was 49KG) and that is with my 50% courier discount. Air Cargo I managed to send for £140, and the clearance and handling charges at KLIA Cargo were RM60 only.

search for freight forwarders and ask for quotation to make comparison. If you're gonna ship by sea you might need to utilize big box. just my 2 cents,

When I moved from Melbourne to Singapore in 2007, I used Jetta to carry my non-fragile, non-essential items back from Melbourne. 4 big boxes, more than 200KG in total. Cost me about AU$350 there, and about S$100 in Singapore, to pay the freight agent commission here (I don't want to do it myself, very tedious. But you can if you got a whole day to spare). Took about 7 days to arrive. Jetta came to my place in Melbourne, collected, weighed and billed me on the spot. In Singapore the agent delivered the goods to my door. So door-to-door service.

Make sure you have a manifest (list of items) of what is in your luggage, so the customs don't have to dig through your belongings to see what they want to tax. I just declare I have about $100 of taxable goods, paid S$7 GST for it, but speed things up by a week or so.

If I asked DHL, TNT to do it, it would have cost me more than $2000.

Another time, long long time ago, Melbourne to KL (in 2003 I think), I also shipped about 450KG (me and my GFs stuff. Students then). 7 big boxes. Cost me about A$250 then. Did the customs formalities myself. Took the whole day in KLIA cargo terminal going between the freight forwarder office and queueing at Kastam. Hot and smelly place, won't do that again.

Bro, I know one company name Seven Seas. They do international shipping. Trustable. I sent like 8 chest of stuff back from UK. Don't worry, they will provide you with boxes, you can stuff any crap you want in there. lol

Edit: haha only dumbasses would use mainstream d2d FF for luggages hahahahahhaha

Hmm, Jetta seems good. I might just use that.

As for Seven Seas, well, my luggage bags contain cloths, and as far as I know you need to pack it in their boxes for Seven Seas. That's going to be a problem as I am in Malaysia and my brother is in Melbourne. I don't want to trouble him (at this time of the year some more) to unpack and re-pack for me.

What about fragile items? I just remember I have an iMac too!

So thats 2 luggage bags and 2 boxes. I don't mind shipping them seperately too, I just don't want to receive my iMac with a broken screen.
