Guys, have you ever dropped your iPad ( 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation ) ?

I dropped mine (No any pouch but with screen protector) when it was just 4 days after purchase from a height of about 1.2 meter to tile floor.

Surprisingly, the screen didn't crack but i got a dent on top right corner ( in which i suspect it is the dent that saved my iPad )

At first, the 3G function and GPS seem to be failed to operate. It keeps saying unable to activate cellular data despite the full bar of Maxis line. The GPS as well showed me could not determine location with wifi turned off.

I pat the back of my ipad a few times and it worked back ! Thx GOD

Guys, what are your experience ? Have you ever drop your iPad ?

P/s used Ferrari pouch with my New iPad now.

Buy the super protective case that can drop from 2 floor down and survive the impact...i forgot the case wat name already...but u can search at google no problem.

TS, you would regret start this thread at next year or the time you want to sell you old new ipad

always drop it from bed. but luckily still not found any problem. using griffin folio case. latest drop dis morning

Once.. but my ipad protected with marware case, dropped from 1.5 meters height to hard concrete... thanks Allah, no problem at all.. no marks or dent at all..

I bought a good case some 3 hours after purchasing the new iPad so never drop it.

mine wan got dent at right lower corner with 5mm measurement.apple seem void the my ipad warranty.plan to get replacement but cost RM1295 for my model.

I personally just ignore it. Cause i have been told by my Uncle who worked for Apple Singapore that as long as the screen is ok, you will still have the warranty.

As long as the screen is not cracked, they will not void your warranty. This is what my uncle told me.

For the yellow tint issue, i don think it is an issue since earlier iPad do encounter this a lot.

Drop my iPad 2 once around 1 metre height by my daughter, luckily the SwitchEasy Canvas case save the day without any dent or problem. Well spent for an RM189 case otherwise I might have to spend 1k for repairing.

mostly i opt for paying RM1295 for a replacement unit for my new ipad.senq 4 year warranty extension can not cancel.they will follow warranty term as like apple.according to apple service provider in penang,they say warranty is void for whole device.
after that will buy otterbox tough case for my new ipad.hihi.

Bro, have you called Apple hotline for the issue ? Or you just go to the service center ? Do they ask you for your Serial Number ?

I call apple hotline initially,ask me to comfirm at apple service provider at penang.i just call the service center at penang,din bring my ipad for inspect yet.what staff there told me to change will cost RM1295 for my model check by asking me the serial number.they told me apple no longer warranty for dented ipad more than 4 mm,they will treat as misshanding.any extra info about apple warranty issue?

I've read a lot ppl successfully have their dented ipad change for 1 time. So i am thinking i will not tell Apple now.

They will not void as they don see the damage themself, but they will black list the serial number

What do u mean bro ? I think your chance of getting a new ipad is more or less zero. You most probably will be given refurbished unit.

They fix the iPad or?

From what I know, they won't fix the iPad for u, they will only fix ur Mac. iPod, iPhone or iPad they will replace u with a refurbished unit.

Refurbished units are from those unit like u return back due to yellowish screen, or wifi issue. Then they fix the faulty part and repackage them for sale Or as replacement units.

That mean lets say i go for pay and replace with refurbished unit.
My dented iPad will still be fix and be as replacement unit?

Ya, if u give apple your dented unit, u will need to pay rm 1200 for it just like u said.
Then they took the money and replace u with a refurbished unit while they take away your unit to repair and give to another customer.

But they will need remove everything and left the back cover behind lo,haha

I drop my iPad 2 weeks after after it was launch(1st batch ipad2).
From waist high, the screen slam on the floor and the screen cracked. One nice crack line across the screen's top left quarter.
I called apple and was replaced with a refurbished unit
The ipad2 was bought from item.com in summit usj but I claim it in machines sunway pyramid.

Nono, that one is just price of the back cover cost. I dono they will repair or not. If repair, u will need to pay more than that for sure. The price is in sgd, not rm By the way around rm300 for the cover

For the warranty extension from senheng is RM355 for 4 year warranty coverage.

My cousin's ipad dropped and now his ipad screen cracked from top corner to bottom corner..but can still use...Ouch!
