Dell was by far the best warranty support but less attractive design for low priced model. So it is not the same I think. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Same as in any laptop from whichever manufacturers will have the tendency to spoil as it's most of the time dependent on luck laugh.gif
Which is when warranty supports come into play nod.gif

QUOTE(daryl.k @ Aug 24 2012, 04:34 PM)
woooww...i really wish i had found this thread before buying the UX32VD....but too late now..

the same day i got the new ultrabook, i found there's something wrong with 1 of the key on the keyboard...its loose and wont bounce back up after pressing it down...the next day, i sent it to Asus SC in lowyat...

the guy who took my case told me it should take 2-3 days to fix it...i said ok and left the day old machine with them...

4 days later, no call from Asus, so i called up the hotline...then they told me there's no stock for replacement and need to order from Taiwan and will take 2-3 weeks...i wasn't happy but there's nothing much i can do...i asked them if i can get back the unit first while waiting for the replacement to come from Taiwan and their reply? "you can but we cant guarantee you priority in case there's another case needs replacement"

meaning while i'm having the machine back, if another use send his/her machine in for same problem, Asus will attend to his/her problem first even though i came 2-3 weeks ago...i was like WTF!!!

the second thing, they say if during the time i took back the machine and i cause more damage to the 'damaged' key they will not be responsible and i cant claim under warranty anymore!

anyhows, after alot of hesitation, i decided to let them hang on to the machine until the replacement part come & they fix it...so i patiently waited almost 3 weeks....

when i don't get any call from them, i decided to check with their CS on the phone...to my horror...they say there's no parts coming in, and my case has been marked as 'CN' or Credit Note...meaning they will either replace a new machine for me or refund me the money...the CS guy actually asked me why no one from Asus call to get my details!!!

so that's 4 weeks waiting for nothing!!! so then i took a snapshot of the purchase receipt and email to them (as requested) for process..i asked them so which its gonna be, 1-to-1 replacement or refund and he said he have no idea....

after i email the receipt they process it and ask me to check back after 2-3 days for status...i call again after 2 days and they confirm receive my email and is now undergoing CN process (still dunno if i'm getting a replacement or refund) and the waiting period? another 1 month (normally)...i made a lot of fuss and was scolding the CS on the phone...and he promise to put in an urgent request...urgent meaning 3 weeks  doh.gif

i really dun understand why it takes so long to get me a replacement unit...if there's no new stock in whole of Malaysia, they can easily order from Taiwan or rest of the world...even delivery from Antarctica wont take this long...

anyways...its been almost 3 weeks since they told me its been process....given the fact this week was Raya week...i will give them another week before checking my status...

originally thought to be damn sad cos 1 day 'new' machine and its been sitting in the service centre for 6 weeks and yet need to wait another 3+ weeks...but after reading the thread here, it seems i'm considered lucky if i can get back anything from Asus in 2 months.

i've been using Toshiba notebooks for close to 10 years...am really happy with build quality of Toshiba cos i only remember visiting their service center 2 or 3 times...and was extremely happy with their customer service...i bought the Asus ultrabook cos i couldn't wait for the new Toshiba Z930...but now......the Z930 is out and i'm still using my old notebook...

before reading this thread, i still hope that Asus will replace the notebook for me and not refund me cos i'm after the machine, not money...but now...all hope is lost...i now wish they will refund me money so i can buy different brand of notebook....and stay the hell away from Asus..

if i'm still getting crap reply from them by end of next week, i will officially write to Asus HQ in Taiwan and send them a link to this thread...and another there is....i might even write to complain to gomen (whichever ministry department relevant)

added: maybe some of u guys would like to fill up this survey form from >>ASUS<<

Sorry to hear of your problem bro sad.gif
But usually you get to exchange 1-to-1 for laptops that spoil within 7-10days right? hmm.gif
Certain sellers are pretty irresponsible and will ask you to send back to service centre instead... sweat.gif

I believe everyone should be informed about this matter to avoid more people getting frustrations... if you insist on Asus laptops, then bear with the warranty. Anything spoil, just stay away from their service centre. Albeit their build is somehow better than other brands..
*
As much as I like Asus's devices, but I agree with you, better to let people know what they're up against hmm.gif

I hate the idea of having to buy a laptop and pray that it doesn't have any problems laugh.gif
Just like refusing to buy insurance and praying that everything will be alright sweat.gif

IMO, asus products is great, just that the warranty service @ MALAYSIA is BS.

i like the feature of the laptop that has 3D, but not for the fact that it can be viewed 3D, it's the 120Hz refresh rate that i like.
*
+1, its just like how everyone in Uni bashes Acer even though most of them have never really used one before laugh.gif
I like Asus products as well, they really know what the consumers want, apart from the warranty support, that is hmm.gif

is it possible to inform asus taiwan so they can F the management here?

last time ppl try to post in asus fb but just to get the msg deleted. efficiency sibei high damn it.
*
I don't think so... they will not pay attention to small ants like us anyway...
Its the same for Toshiba, I'd complaint up to Toshiba Singapore and Toshiba Japan, at the end of the day its all just a waste of phone and faxing money...
The only thing you could do is stop buying their products, if you don't like the brand hmm.gif

I run into this thread, and I would say your experiences will probably dissuade lots of lay person from buying a Asus laptop  tongue.gif
However I also sense that a lot of you actually like the Asus design / pricing, and will embrace Asus again should its warranty services get back to "reasonable" level  whistling.gif

I really dont understand how all these shitty services came from.

I had a faulty Asus laptop. And within 3 days, they changed the screen, mobo, and few more minor components for me. When it came back, it was as good as new.

It is still kicking now after 2 months from service.

I satisfied and surprised to get a phone call within 3 days.

It was the lowyat plaza service center.

hi I want to ask about International Warranty...

if i buy a laptop say Asus, Dell or Toshiba in Malaysia now, next month I travel to UK, for 6 months plus so obviously when my laptop got problem I would have to repair there... cannot wait till i get home..

can i just visit any Asus, Dell or Toshiba service center there? are their warranty worldwide?
*
Most notebooks have 1 year international warranty as standard. But you do get to extend the warranty to up to 3 years international at a price
Asus notebooks come with 2 years international warranty.

Okay ..so I bought 2 unit of ASUS G55VW both with the highest possible spec .. ( yea 24gb o RAM tongue.gif ) one for my dad and one for me with 3D  .. hurm so my dad's lappy was working fine and mine was broken out of the box on the same day of purchase from Evernew ( Lowyat )  , then I sent it out to ASUS Service centre as the dealer told me it was not their fault and I should send it to the service centre , so I sent my G55 on 2/12/2012 and waited for their call which arrives on 22Dec ( damn long  -.- ) and so I came all the way from Ipoh to lowyat on 24th Dec just to take the laptop which cost me 5k and when I reach there the tech guy came and brought my laptop and what a suprise ! the problem was not even solved ! So I rage over at the Service Centre and the guy told me I  that he will fix it by Wednesday (today) . So i'm still waiting for that guy to call me and I did called asus and their staff told me to wait for their tech to call otherwise it is still not yet ready for collection and I was like ( WTF ) ?!

- Mainly my laptop is having a problem with keyboard failure which each button is used for different button ..for EX : you pressed ( 4 ) and it writes ( /4 ) and g -> ( g8 ) WTF right ?

- So the asus tech guy told me it was not the keyboard problem since they replaced the whole keyboard and it might be the Motherboard fault -.-
-----

So yeah I'm still waiting for their call right now .
PS: I love ASUS laptop it just that their after sale service is F*ked up
*
24GB of RAM is way overkill and expensive without giving much performance gain sweat.gif
Anyway, for notebooks with problems within 7 days, you can ask for 1-to-1 exchange nod.gif

I have bought one padfone 2 in Malaysia. I accidentally make my pad station screen crack. After go asus centre in lowyat plaza 4th floor the customer service telling me that's not under warranty for LCD crack. Fine I'm understands it. Than she take my pad station go in inside office asking the price than she tell me the price 550 to repair it. Fine! I accepts and sign the receipt. After one day asus send me a quotation the price is 810 !!! I reply the email and say is not same price as I deal yesterday. she reply me got some miscommunication the price give me yesterday is phone LCD price not pad .  As i know New only sell 799 in market repair LCD need 810 .tat not a reasonable price. I would go take my item back this is first and last I buy the asus product. Asus after service really bad in Malaysia .

The pictures above told the whole story. As i bought the laptop on that day, it immediately got issue on temperature. When i walk-in to the Asus Service center, i am attended with a young technician. As i thought  that is  this young technician can handle my case????  Did he qualified??? Frankly speaking, i totally got  no confidence on that young man. The technician just roughly take a look on the laptop and said that nothing can be done by now due to no parts at the moment and need to send the parts from KL. And i asking for new unit replacement due to i  just bought this laptop few days back and is really unfair to me cos i bought this laptop few days back. then i asking for person in charge. The technician answer me that the manager is out for lunch. Later around 15min, the manager came back. Wow...... The look of the manager are more worst..... This guy is in around late 20's, untidy cloths, red hair and the hand with tattoo, it seems like rockstar or a tai kor gangster. The Manager named RICKY. But any way i still bring out my cases see that is he got any better solution for me. But.... with Roughly, he answer me that nothing he can do to me, cos the his boss from KL not to allow his to do this and that... Any thing i request, he just push the responsibility to KL. At the end..... I have to let them screw on my new bought laptop. What type of spare parts that they gonna use???? After market spare parts??? Re-cond parts??? Who know??? But what i really sure is my laptop never gonna be the same any more. My laptop no longer in new. My laptop been screwed-up.

As what i see today, I feel that there is no quality on Asus. Who can believe that a new laptop got temperature issue.... This must be a used or Re-cond laptop.

About their service, OMG, i think they should employed qualified technician to handle on the warranty case. Or maybe they should hire gangster to fully in charge on their Service Centre. So nobody dare to walk-in to their Service Centre and they can Reach 0% complain.

As conclusion, I vote NO CONFIDENCE ON ASUS PRODUCT.
*
Sorry to hear of your issue man sad.gif
Seems like Asus Malaysia is focused more on marketing their products rather than everything else; and since their products are pretty attractive, many uninformed ones will definitely fall for them. Its okay if nothing break downs, but when they do... then that's when all the problems starts sad.gif

first at all , you should tell us what exactly has happen on your laptop ? what think in your mind that the unit have issue on temperature ? if u suspect it is, how sure u on which part in the laptop got problem causing this ? if you are not an expect , just send in services center and let them diagnose, if you would not like to do that, why not send back to the place that you bought , ask them have a help ?

secondly , who give you right to judge a person even he is young and look immature ? does a person look reflect his attitude and ability ? so you think all the people wear smart and luxury are very professional ? have you ever met a scam person drove BMW ?   hmm.gif how u sure they will replace recond parts or after market spare parts for you ? you not even let them repair instead of keep judging their out look  doh.gif
*
@finger6, perhaps you can share some temperature screenshots with us, so that the sifus here could warn potential buyers notworthy.gif

@androidfans
Based on my experience, sending back to the shop where we bought the notebook will not help; since they will encourage you to send the notebook back to Asus service center yourself; or they will help you (sometimes even with a surcharge) to send back to Asus service center for diagnosis and if needed, repairs nod.gif The 2nd method is of course, more expensive and slower due to the involvement of another party.

By right we shouldn't judge a person by its cover. But we are not exactly judging any normal person now are we? As a representative of Asus, one of the most important brands of the year, some professionalism is definitely expected, regardless of how good that person is. If 1st impressions are not important, why do we still need to be properly dressed for interviews?
Still, by writing this I'm assuming that finger6 has not exaggerate or recognize the wrong person as the manager la tongue.gif

You are one very lucky customer haha laugh.gif laugh.gif
Asus notebooks are known to be reliable, but like all electronics, devices might fail regardless of how well you take care of it... Most customers would prefer some solid warranty support to back things up whenever devices fail, which is why many (who are informed, of course) are abit daunted to get an Asus (in Malaysia only afaik) now I guess hmm.gif
