Thanks for your reply. I would also like to know what brand of monopod that i could get to help me shoot easily for events? and can monopod be a stabilizer starter since buying a stabilizer is costly so i kinda wanna get experience first.

Any monopod will do, with or without the 3 legged monopod support feet.  And then a good Fluid head on top of that monopod.  That fluid head is a must as you can use it on other stuff like tripods, sliders etc.

Any brand should do for starting off.  Cheap copy knockoffs actually do a pretty good job to execute the movements/duty of that equipment.  You even read about reviewers like cheeseycam saying he almost threw away a Glidecam (a very good stabilizer) because he was frustrated figuring out how to balance the damn thing.

I'm using a cheap copy of the glidecam known as flycam.  Pain in the ass to get it perfectly balanced.  Easy to shake off what was set because of poor quality build.  Have to keep tightening screws on it.  But the end results are that the flycam looks way more smoother than without using the thing.  It really does reduce footsteps and camera shakes etc.

You do pay for what you get.  I mean I do find the more expensive stuff to be more refined and more efficient.  But buying the best of everything is very expensive if you don't have the budget.  But to me its better to buy the cheaper one and learn how to use it properly.  See what it really does for your video and decide whether you want to pay for the expensive upgrade.

I'm self learning by watching youtube, articles and just simply shooting.  Just going out there and shooting is the best way.

I see very informative. So which one do you recommend me to get? monopod or glidecam? glidecam is more expensive right?

Fluid head & Monopod first.  Its quite versatile and feels like a foundation tool for event video.

You can check out these shops:

http://kenz.com.my/

FYI budget stabilizer brand is Flycam.

whats the difference buying it separately with buying a monopod that already have a fluid head?

Here are some rental house contacts
But renting equipment can be quite costly , better just invest. Unless you need specialised equipment like crane and HMI lights then renting is the way to go.

If you're doing events , this piece of equipment will be your best investment. Mine has lasted me maybe 4 years and still going strong , besides the paint scrapes from dropping it. Quality wise I would say its the best.

I can solo shoot a whole event just on it , if you got 'skill' can add movement to video if you know how to use.

Cheers

Maybe also think about a Shotgun Microphone.  Rode video mic pro - slightly pricey but its a good one.  shotguns are great to just put on top of the camera to capture.  One of the best options to just interview a ton of random people.  Pretty good at capturing performances also.

Clip/lav mics are hard to just simply put on random people without planning.  Maybe you can skip the clip/lav mics if you don't plan to clip those on people or yourself.  Zoom H1 & Rode Video Mic Pro are quite a combo together to start off already.  More advance audio equipment will start to get really expensive.

Next is how are you going to plan to monitor the audio.  Some Canon cameras have volume gauge to show how much sound is going in.  Some have head phone jacks too to plug head phones and hear what is going into the camera.

Rode mic looks great but I think for wedding or interview vids i just need only their voice. instead of the mic, I can just attach the Zoom H1 on my camera right? Not so sure what is the name of the accessory to hold the recorder on the camera.

Ah, preplanning is way more important than you think.
Get a good flow/script out. Go through with your friends/faculty members/professor to ensure it's not boring/confusing/fulfills it's purpose.
Then make a detailed storyboard and plan how you gonna shoot every angle...

Thank you for the tips!
