I don't really know well in building my own circuit.
What I wanted is the whole chip as in the guide or something similar to it that can get the job done.

Well if you know the address of electronic shops in penang pls do tell ne,
Won't the MAX232 work with 3.3V?
Cuz i can get 3.3V from the power supply of my PC.

And according to the guide it doesn't say anything about building any circuit.
isn't it just as simple as get the RS232 to TTL chip and connect all the wires?

Pls explain.

I haven't been there, but I think this is the location of Hondai Butterworth --> Wikimapia - Hondai Butterworth. The Hondai on Pg Island is correct.

There's tons of circuit on the net. Like this one --> MAX232 Serial level converter. And double check with the datasheet!

ic.. Sensing between one IR transmitter transmitting and one IR receiver. Yup, parallel port should be able to do that.

Which circuit? The IR sensor or the communication with PC? Frankly, I have neither. laugh.gif it depends on which IR sensor, environment, controller.... Assuming fantasy1989 already had the circuit, I'm just stating the possibility of interfacing it with PC via parallel port. smile.gif

Added on August 31, 2009, 11:00 pmNot it the mood of googling... I'm sure there are tons of example smile.gif

Which infrared sensor you plan to use? Mind to post the datasheet so I can have a look?

What do you mean by Malaysian site?
The easiest and with widest choices for electronics components would be Farnell and RS online. Both has sales and support office in Malaysia.

Man, Farnell .......

I ordered my stuff nearly 10 days ago and it's still not here ... supposed to be 3-5 days according to their website. Gave them a call yesterday and they said it's still being processed =_=;;

Err you can check farnell online on the status of your order, including whether payment has been received, or item has been shipped, or still in transit from it's global warehouses.

So far my experience is those local stuffs will arrive within 5 days, UK stuffs will be next week if you ordered on Monday, and US will take 2 to 3 weeks.
RS is actually faster for local stuff, arrive in 3 days.
Note all these are business days.

And don't order those items that says 'please call'. Those can take up to 3 months to arrive.

Thanks for the advise.

Most of the components i ordered are from SG, a few from UK. And yes, been waiting for around 10 working days. (Mon-Fri + 2 Monday holidays)

I did check my status regularly and it's been tagged as "Received" ... However when i called them yesterday (and earlier today), the operator said that they have no record of my order confirmation. doh.gif Forwarded the order confirmation back to them; gonna call them again later.

If status is "received", I think they haven't confirmed received your payment, and the working days don't start counting until they have payment confirmation.
To speed things up, I usually email my transaction ref # right after making payment.

Hurrrrrrrrr finally solved the problem.

Turns out it's their side and they gave me an invalid reference number. The best part ? Correct number is the next one. My order was never processed until i called them up again yesterday.

I had to cancel a few components as they will only arrive the day after my presentation =.=. Had to swap a RM5 IC for a RM20 one for the same reason too. ;_;
