i'm leaping from s1 (ori s1 no plus plus or whatever) t0 s3. must be a very good choice. s1 is a good phone but over the year of software upgrades, the hardware cannot take it anymore. for example my skype during the earlier days has better performance then now. it takes nearly 50 secs to login nowadays.

so far so good. too bad iphone5 is so far away. i can't wait so long for iphone 5. i'm sure iphone5 is stealing everything from samsung and adding some of its own. well that is how technology is. u be doomed if u always wait for something better.

QUOTE(arslow @ May 7 2012, 09:31 AM) yeah smart stay is genius should be standard from now on.the copy and paste of words/sentences from one screen to another should also be standard like how the pc works. why phone still cannot do as a standard. right now it depends on the app, and not yet at OS level (meaning across all applications). is copy and paste feature in S3 now a standard? |

QUOTE(Harddisk @ May 7 2012, 09:49 AM) certain 3rd party apps for example whatsapp(well, u can't copy a word, you have to copy the whole message), youtube, tasklist etc...you can't select, copy paste like u normally do in pc. should be all text base display can select, copy, paste as a standard. in pc, u take for granted every text can copy and paste no matter what application u are in.p.s i just realized most native apps can. but 3rd party not so consistent |

QUOTE(Harddisk @ May 7 2012, 11:51 AM) I think firstly, you have to find out whether the text displayed is in a textbox (has to be selectable) or on a label (non-selectable). If both textbox non-selectable and label, most likely you can't copy. i understand what u saying.Similarly to Windows, there's no way to copy a single text on a label control, if you know what I mean. And you are right, it's on the app itself, whether developer choose to have it as textbox without border and blended in background colour, or the more easy way, just by using label. But there are also other complication in using textbox, which is why label is more favourable. for certain things it depends on developer. if developer gatal put a text as picture, then too bad. but my question is why is there so many instances the developer don't allow us to copy text. is quite prevalent in 3rd party apps. for example. in youtube.com for pc the text that people write are all copy-able. but in the youtube app in android, it is not. wtf? where is the quality control here. for certain things maybe is the OS itself. this one i not sure. |

chill out la on design and material issues. design and material are all opinions ,so u will never get consensus even after the cows come home for the 5th time.
for me plastic is good, coz it is lighter. i put in my pocket all day, i don't want it to be heavier then my balls right? anyway who cares when i'll be wrapping it up with some condom or leather casing. i never seen many people with smartphones don't have some kind of protection. |

QUOTE(river.sand @ May 7 2012, 02:25 PM) good question, the obvious that needs hardware support 1. charging wirelessly 2. lte 3. nfc related the rest i say no need. right? like smart stay <--- not sure someone please confirm if no hardware support required smart alert direct call social tag s voice all share play buddy photo share etc. so technically a sII with custom rom can do all of the above except the above 3 things |

QUOTE(billy_overheat @ May 7 2012, 02:51 PM) yes but that is application controlled. the feature in s3 is built into the OS.for example at the moment when the screen is about to dim, instead of dimming, it turns on the camera for a brief moment to see if u eyes are looking at the phone. if yes then don't dim. if eyes are not looking, then dim. continue to monitor the eyes for a brief moment before turning off the screen if still not looking then off the screen. there u go, the pseudo code. open source free to distribute tanpa was was i don't think the smart stay uses lot of battery. |

QUOTE(waveweaver @ May 7 2012, 03:33 PM) Unless you're rooted and use custom rom, SGS on stock rom lags like hell. BIG difference between stock SGS and stock S2 a bit of topic, i am on 2.3.3 stock on sgs, i'm afraid to upgrade to 2.3.6 custom rom coz i depend on my phone A LOT for communication. so i don't want to take the risk to upgrade to 2.3.6. but maybe i should can u assure me?i heard horror stories that some functions doesn't work on 2.3.6 custom rom, like 3g video not working, some apps not ngaam, etc. is that true? |
