Direct drive machine eliminates the need for the belt and reduces noise; which means less part to be replaced. Which brand was recommended to you by the salesman? Even Hitachi has Direct Drive front loading machine. LG was the pioneer in direct drive.
I am using Panasonic Inverter belt driven FL, its very silent during wash; however, is very poor at balancing clothes especially when doing 10kg full load wash.
