first, you heard of mechanical keyboards and you google for it. Then you stumble upon Geekhack and Deskthority, and you to know more. Slowly you start to take part in the community.
Afterwards, you youtube for mechanical keyboards and then the urge of want-to-own comes and you check your bank acc. Testing out a real mechanical keyboard got you poisoned real hard, and you can no more control yourself. After all those research and consideration, you bought home your very first mech keyboard. That's not the end, you'll look for more keyboards and accessories, key caps, wrist rests, switches, cases, bumbung, rare models etc... |

QUOTE(x-1o8-x @ May 12 2012, 04:50 PM) sadly this keyboard has the "QuickFire" word on the spacebar, which tbh is kinda ugly.. in fact, all the fonts on this keycaps are ugly to me =.=" I'm on your boat brothis is kinda cheap... but may I know why the spacebar won't fit? izzit too long? or the mount is different position? I was planning to buy a red switch quickfire rapid... but what's stopping me is the branding all over the keyboard.. that's very unprofessional. |

QUOTE(x-1o8-x @ May 14 2012, 10:02 PM) guys, how does your aftermarket keycaps' spacebar feels like? my current stock one kinda hurts if i keep slamming it with my thumb... it's kinda tall and sharp (not razor sharp, just not curved) at the edge >"< QUOTE(lucidlts @ May 14 2012, 10:23 PM) I think I have exactly the same issue..lol |

QUOTE(dk999 @ May 25 2012, 11:51 AM) What are the good mechanical keyboards under rm 400? Looking for something budget, less than RM300 is welcomed Recommended locally available brandsMinimum must have numpad. Macro/illuminated/screens are optional. - Filco - Leopold - Ducky Filco MJ2 or ninja RM400 can get, try look for Cex, not sure if he's still having promotion or not. Otherwise, you can look around in Garage Sales, there are a few 2nd hand Filco. Leopold is available from bro Cyclonechuah, RM345 with free 104 blank key caps. Ducky you can get from many reputable sellers, eg heavyarms. - 9008S (backlit) having sales, around RM400 with free wrist rest. - 9008G2 having sales as well, around RM360. Those are quality boards, you won't regret the money spent Below RM300 for cherry mx switch keyboards? You can taobao for Keycool, PLU, or other brands |

QUOTE(dk999 @ May 25 2012, 06:40 PM) Thanks for suggestion. Razer BWU - Available in blue switch only, USB 2KRO, backlit, cheapest of all, have quite bad reputationRazer Black Widow Ultimate Ducky 9008 G2 PBT Leopold FC500R What are difference between the following models , last two seems pretty similar Ducky 9008G2 PBT - Available in all switches (but locally available Red and Brown only), USB NKRO, no backlit, PBT the most durable key cap Leopold FC500R - Available in all switches, USB 18KRO, When you said "last two seems pretty similar", I think you mean their appearance, is it? Mechanical keyboard is all about the typing feel and functionality, those blings blings, appearance design and whatsoever is basically useless. 中看不中用 - Barks louder than bite... |

QUOTE(dk999 @ May 25 2012, 07:38 PM) Thanks for help! If you youtube for BWU problems, there's quite a number of videos...What's bad with Razer BWU, build quality seems reputable, comes with additional features (macro), just have a design that some might not like. Now next step is to where can feel the difference then.. Anywhere can test ducky and leopold? testing them before buying is the best solution, it's up to your own decision in choosing the best board. QUOTE(noobandroid @ May 25 2012, 07:38 PM) unless u really use it like me, i use backlit for late night playing, so my mom wont barge in and say GO TO SLEEP U FAG! backlit is acceptable tho.. I understand that... now can touch typing already, so even no backlit is perfectly OKAdded on May 25, 2012, 7:53 pm QUOTE(lucidlts @ May 25 2012, 07:50 PM) wow really hard to catch up already read your previous post regarding the acer alps... you can get the contacts of the disposal guy and have a deal with themtoo much out station till not much time for foruming. BUT, saw a lot of old skool kb during my task. can watch but cannot eat btw, this 1 looks nice http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=17218012075 This post has been edited by JohnDiew0107: May 25 2012, 07:53 PM |

QUOTE(epiguru @ May 25 2012, 08:10 PM) Just adding to what Human10 said about UK pricing on more mainstream boards, pricing of IBM buckling springs keyboards (e.g. IBM Model M) is NOT superior in the UK, i.e. after condition of the board is taken into account. The range of BS keyboards in the UK is also quite poor. In fact, people there have approached me to buy a Model M. you can get IBM Model M? I'm actually looking to own one.If I was going to buy any keyboard in the UK, it will probably be a programmable keyboard, e.g. Access, Devlin or Preh. Some are available to UK residents at decent prices. |

QUOTE(Qavs @ May 31 2012, 02:09 AM) Why not you just PM him and ask? His respond is quite fast. (Working hour la) at first, I also felt that the space bar has different feel than any other keys, only to find out that the space bar uses stiffer switch.Added on May 31, 2012, 2:13 amAnyway, I find my Ducky 9008s space bar is a little different than the other keys. Anyone with the same experience? The space feels a little ... bad quality, not entirely bad but just not as good. STILL better than membrane's spacebar if you ask me. for instance my 9008G2 red switch has black switch for space bar. QUOTE(Tupperwarez @ May 31 2012, 07:19 AM) Actually i already contacted him and send the keyboard to him, though he was unsure about how long the process of RMA will take. not sure if I missed something, what's is your board's problem? |
