rm260 per year plus... let's say rm10 per month by vendor charges, which works out to rm120 per year. So total cost would be rm380 per year.
Not that much saving l'd say.

260 a year to get some doctored biased unprofessional gov-linked paper delivered to me hard & soft copy?

even if they pay me 260 a year I won't want that bullcrap thing near my sight!

i know its out of topic, but "subscribing" to this "paper" is just "plain stupid"

Added on May 1, 2012, 11:13 pmbtw, TS are you from theStar's marketing team?
If you are i suggest you save your electricity as theStar's reputation is way down the drain already.

Seriously i do not know how does its journalists/editors/employees work there and have a good night sleep every night...

Im just a Star reader and i find this promotion is worth for those who buy The star everyday. More cost saving. bias or not bias this is very individual preference.

Though is RM10 by vendor charges, is still RM80 cheaper than the original price you pay for just hard copy. Imagine now, u have both soft and hard...I'm not promoting on behalf of the star but i just want to share a good promotion they currently have now. Plus you stand a chance to win Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus everyday...

woo....this thread is suppose to introduce a great promotion but it turned into bias reporting, politics and anti reading...sigh. I guess 2 possibility:
i) those who condemn really dont read newspaper
ii) there might be other competitor supporter like NST, China press and etc.

of course i read, but I prefer to read it in kopitiam/ library because it is FOC. haha ...

another thing is, i don't think anyone of you could read ALL news in the newspaper because of time constraint ... what I could read the headline and some interesting news.

i hope the apps could be divided into packages such as headline, sports, entertainment, jobs, extra ... so that user could buy it with optional price.

Basically it's first 10+ pages of UMNO-praising and PR bashing. It even edits (poorly) news from AP and Reuters rather than show the original version.

The only real good content is classifieds. The rest such as entertainment, sports or world news you can find on Google.

RM9 per week x 48 wks = RM432 ... that's a savings on RM172 for those who doesn't know how to count. Yes, that excludes the vendors cost of sending it to you. But this mainly applies to those who have been subscribing on a daily basis, which you also pay your usual vendor delivery charges anyway.

If you have been buying off the streets, then you just don't pay the delivery charges. I personally don't subscribe since my office has it. But my retired mum does. Now I can get the paper version for her while I download the ePaper version on my iPad since I stay elsewhere from my mum.

She saves & I get the ePaper version.

Anyone interested in a partner collabortion . Let's say you take the paper and I will take the epaper. Because most people prefer reading it physically and rm 260 per year is a great deal for them . So let's say , I pay rm 10-30 for the epaper and then you will get the newspaper at a much lower price.

normally vendor charge Rm2 for delivery, now with this bundle package, vendor charging RM10 for delivery
and it's only for 1 year subscription.

Wat if for the 2nd year, if change back to normal, will vendor change us RM2 or RM10 since they know Rm10 also can afford to pay

I have all RSS related to most news, but this one give much more then that. Moreover with Galaxy Tab 10.1 got 6 months free subscription. not bad for a nearly one year device.

Well I read this newspaper, malaysia kini, rocket, harakah, AP, Reuters and whatever being dished out by journalist. Basically I'm a news addict.

And after years of doing it, have developed a technique of 'reading between the lines' to find the real news. Well there are no newspaper without shortcoming although negative perception of mainstream newspaper is unwarranted.

Actually i dont quite get it..

Yes you can subscribe to the bundle and get both hardcopies and the softcopy version..

But the softcopy version is kind of pointless since you can already read exactly all the printed news on TheStar.com.my website anyway isnt it ?

Except maybe for the classifieds section or the printed advertisements, the softcopy hardly adds any value if a regular user just wants to read news..They can just browse it online.
