The preorder bonus is kinda underwhelming. Only get to play 3 days in advance? They really overhyped the game, also with hype comes server launch issues and lag. People will be trying to zerg the login servers and they probably can't cope.  Starting zones will be swarming with people, don't think you could get a quest done like that. Think I am going to wait 1-2 months after release, check the reviews to see if the game is actually good. Gonna wait till the dust settles and if there's a boxed version by then, all the better.  tongue.gif

Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be another TORtanic.  tongue.gif

Wait what?

First - Pre-order get 1 day head-start and no Beta access, Pre-Purchaser get 3 days head-start with Beta access...

Second - Arena Net is not hyping the game... Community are.. they only gives news in their Facebook Page, Twitter, and their blog.. no where else..

Third - They doubled the servers.. and fixed the overflow issues..

Fourth - There will be no questing completion issue.. everyone contributes for the events.. theres no need to wait and fight for who first getting the quest.. everything shared and you got own EXP and Loots.. not to mention you got 3 way to choose to complete the renown heart quest..

Hmm?

i5 2500k 3.4GHz quad core stock
12GB DDR3 1333 [overkill...kill...kill... (echo effect)]
HD6850 crossfire (right right I need to buy a new power supply later)
21.5" Samsung LCD 1920x1080
and my noob busy pile of cells and tissues called "brain" that is basically only 1MHz.

Not really sure if the game will support CFX/SLI on release or not... Usually most games don't.  hmm.gif

12GB still okay for me.. unless its 18GB or 32GB LOLZ

well my eyes simply cannot accept wide screen. thank goodness still got non wide screen monitors.

anyway, for hd, the resolution is 1900 x 1080 right? i.e. 1080p

mine is 1280 x 1024 or 1024p which is close enough to me.
*

this is the different between 1920x1080 and 1280x1024, Full HD will give you more FOV depth and you can see more area with it.. and the p (progressive) moniker usually used for Wide screen resolution i.e 360p (640x360), 720p (1280x720) and so on...

anyone knows if there will be a new client when GW2 launched? or is it okay to used our current beta client and just download a few patches?

Added on July 4, 2012, 4:04 am
Final Guild Wars 2 beta weekend on July 20th
Aug -28-12 launch date of Guild Wars 2  rclxms.gif

Added on July 4, 2012, 4:09 am
I think Crossfire/SLI is not yet supported based on their forums
*
Theres no news about the launch client yet.. but since the client will be around 20~25GB, I think its reasonable that they will patch up the beta client to the release client.. so that they and us can save bandwidth and dont have to download all over it again

adding to the Final BWE and Release date MY Time
Final BWE - Saturday (21th July 2012) 2 or 3 am
Pre-purchase Head Start - Saturday (25th August 2012) 12~1 pm
Release/Launch Day - Tuesday (28th August 2012) 12~1 pm

about CFX/SLI I think depends on AMD/Nvidia to release driver compatibility for the game I guess.. since ArenaNet is currently optimizing the game, I'm sure it will updated soon as the game released..

does not matter as my eyes only focus on the middle. not the sides.
i use wide screen also waste the monitor only.

been staring at non wide monitors for 20 years.
*
I see.. I guess everyone got different preference.. wider FOV for me is better coz I not only focus on the middle.. looking at the corner necessary for me coz it makes me aware of surrounding and IMO better when in sPVP and WvWvW..

well.. 20 years is long time.. hope in future theres still 5:4 monitor for those who prefer non wide monitors ^^

QUOTE(valho @ Jul 4 2012, 09:55 AM)
According to the date, then head start for us will be 25th to 27th, hmm should take leave on Monday so can get to play the full 3 days biggrin.gif

Kinda sad the GW2 is not distributed in Msia anymore like GW, kinda wanted to get the CE, I bought CE for both Faction and Nightfall.
*
Yeah.. pre-purchase head-start is 25th.. XD... lol 3 days straight.. pretty extreme eh.. I'll take my time, not rushing it anyways... gotta explore the beautiful of Sylvari (The Grove) area ^^

Hahaha just want to use those 3 days to properly learn the game since I didn't really play much during beta or the stress test. I am still a bit confused on how certain things works and didn't really get to experience the engineer class as much as I would like.

*
I'm using Streamyx 1MB line.. so far its okay.. 300~400ms ping depends on the connection really lol.. dont need to use VPN, but I use ping reducer software tho (its not the same like VPN, you still use your streamyx IP)

QUOTE(bontotalan @ Jul 5 2012, 10:22 AM)
So basically i can kill steal by walking to someone, one/two hit dead, get xp and loot. Find another person, one/two hit dead, and repeat process to fast lvl up?
*
its not kill steal... Kill Steal means that when a person attacking a mob, then you came and kills it.. and you get XP and Loot, but the person that first attack the mob didnt get anything.. .thats Kill Steal... in GW2 theres no such thing... a person attacking a mob then you came and kills it, both of you got XP and Loots.. so theres no stealing in this case..

You can look at it in some ways.

1.

"Oh, this guy is kiting 3 ettins. Damn, he's skilled! Oh, one ettin about to die, tag him to get XP... now he's working on the other 2, oh he pulled another one! The second one bout to die, tag him again"

The player who is kiting must be thinking "Damn it son, help me out!", even though he also got XP and loot.

2.

"Oh, someone else is on the heart as well. Oh well, time to put some shoulder grease into it" ----> proceeds to help nuke the ettins that the player is kiting.

The player who is kiting now thinks "Thanks for helping out son!"

And then they both proceed to kill ettins. They might pull different ettins, but they bring them close to each other proximity, so that the heart can be completed faster.

Well, during all BWE, I always comes across the second situation. In fact, nobody was leeching off stuff, so the first situation is nonexistant. Since naturally, YOUR heart will be completed faster if you HELP the poor guy kills his ettins, instead of waiting for the last moment to tag and "killsteal".

And everyone got their own loot and XP, so why not help the guy, and why must you be aggrieved if someone else is helping you to bring down those 3 ettins you are kiting?
*
This is so true!

Same with me here! when every I see player with mobs I went there and help them.. immediately... I didnt wait for a certain of time then went kills the mobs, I just run near the player and attack the mobs together.. and it happens every single time I stumbles upon a group of players doing events or player kiting alone :3.. with this I make a lot of friends and doing events and hearts together.. naturally

QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Jul 7 2012, 11:11 PM)
So lucky I didn't prepurchase the digital version.  biggrin.gif
If you want to preorder boxsets, pbbseller is taking preorders, price is RM160 per copy
*
I understand that some of you guys want the boxset for collection.. its nice to see you still can get it from seller here ^^..

Just for note that pre-order boxset will only give you 1 day head-start and you will get approx 1~3 days after launch to get your boxset.. good thing that you still can download the client in advance from Guild Wars 2 account page.. just make sure that you get your serial from the seller and register your account before the launch or else you will missed the 1 day head-start..

one thing that Pre-Purchase from Arena Net give you more benefit than Boxset Pre-Order from sellers
- you pay and support direct to Arena Net
- 3 Days Head-Start
- Beta Access

The different only the Boxset... the DVD already can be absolute because you can download client anytime from the account page and update on the fly... The only viable for boxset is the CE IMO but its impossible to get from now on.... Its not that regular Boxset is not good.. its just not benefit enough

Full server? well then, off to another server. no biggie i guess. and since the game leveling curve is not that high compared to other mmo, i could always reroll another character when the said server is not full anymore. Huhu can't wait to play XD
*
Do note that your account character is global.. meaning its not bound to server.. you can play your character with any servers via 'Guesting', the only thing why you need to decided your starting server a.k.a 'Home Server' because of WvWvW.. (as your representing your server when doing WvWvW)...

So its not like your typical character account that each server consist your character pool like in Aion.. 3 character in Siel and 3 character in Kahrun, and its not shared between both server/world.. In GW2 instead.. 1 account consist let say 8 character slot.. each character can play any of the servers listed as 'guesting' other than your home server..

Also 'guesting' is only available when you have friend on the said server that you want to join... and you cannot participate WvW when you are 'guesting', so you dont need to create new character to play other servers to join you friend just use guesting, you can also transfer to server you want with restriction 1 server change per 7 days.. and it cost about 1800 gems

BWE is Beta Weekend Event

WvW is World versus World

No Problem ^^

QUOTE(SoLiD @ Jul 8 2012, 09:12 PM)
When you think of Queues in the traditional MMO you would just sit there staring at the screen counting down the number which sometime moves up instead of down, but in GW2 Queues means you enter a separate world call "overflow server" where you can do everything you can do on a normal server while waiting to get into the server, whatever you do in the "overflow server" will be there when you are back in the normal server, exp/loot/gold/achivements.. everything

if you are not in a party, you will not even notice when you are transported back to the normal server from the overflow server, it's like magic...only downside is if you are in a party and you somehow dc and ended up in the overflow server you can't see your friends in the same party until you join back the normal server

As for the starting area to be full and crowded, trust me in GW2 you wan the area as populated as possible, mean you are always nearby a player which can and will help you if you accidentally aggro'ed too many mobs, or help you up when you are in the down state. There is no ks-ing in anyway in the game so don't worry about crowded place....
*
THIS is also one reason IMO that GW2 is very well done MMORPG.. other MMORPG suffers from queues and waiting time to play and GW2 just fix it and get it done right!.... the Overflow servers is a brilliant idea! Arena Net really thought everything lolz (seriously really!)

QUOTE(Ken.shin- @ Jul 9 2012, 03:09 AM)
right now, am deciding between pre-purchasing or just pre-ordering from local distributors(to get the box). therefore, have some questions which i hope can be answered here.

how much in RM do i have to pay if i purchase the $59.99 from their site?

secondly, how exactly useful is hero's band?
*
for me Paypal charged me around RM190ish

and Hero's band is an ingame item that you can equip and it gives a little bit boost -
Hero's Band provides: +2 Power, +2 Precision, +2 Toughness, +2 Vitality, +2 Condition Damage, +2 Healing, and +2%% Critical Damage

Do note that Pre-Order will only gives 1 day Head-start before the game launches.. and Pre-purchase gives 3 days head-start with bonus Beta Access
