If noise is your concern , Japanese straight flow is the right choice for u ... with jasma cert / tag certified of course ... can barely hear the bassy sound even cruising at high rpm  drool.gif

Then it must be a very BIG muffler? drool.gif

Bro ... when u say about Mugen muffler ... do you realise that Mugen Mufflers are generally twin-loop design rather then S-Flow ?

Let me explain to you la .... Twin-Loop muffler is a straight flow muffler with a loop of piping to cancelling the sound pressure wave create by the straight flow ... the loop carry the sound wave from front of the muffler to the rear to have the "self cancelling" effect thus exhaust flow like straight flow but still remain silence ~

If u say a S-Flow muffler is better then a Straight-Flow , i would like to hear your explanation.... cause it just out of logic that a more restrictive muffler will work better then a less restrictive one  laugh.gif

yes straight flow. But no sound cancelling. Normally sound canceller wave is done by midbox. Muffler, muffles smile.gif

You can use a 1.8" piping setup with a much bigger muffler s-flow without being too restrictive. You can check with specialist like everco, they do make good S-flow mufflers without being too loud.

Remember, all loud but no go is no good. it has to be efficient. Hope everyone can exchange knowledge instead of throwing harsh words. Peace icon_rolleyes.gif

What is your current setup?

(I'm with 27needles. Currently on Straight flow. Planning to change back S-flow but aftermarket big ones lah. The noise is making me & occupants crazy. )

Erm, my current setup are actually standard 1.6, which is 4-2-1 extractor to cat back, then a small bullet and straight flow FireHill exhaust, too loud then i change back to normal wira exhaust and the car feel 50% heavier...piping are using ori direction...i don't want to invest too much money on changing piping size and route because of the fc...further more my wira oredi makan fc like gila, full tank only go about 280-300km/h after i convert to manual, befor ethat auto only can reach 260-270km/h

Just change to a bigger muffler(but not too big s-flow). Stock muffler mmg restrictive. That's why its silent. Fc depends on right foot.

Btw your car damn fast wei.

Anyway, Straight can be silent " no raspy sound, only low bassy sound" ... it depending on the design, don't compare with those Kakiexhaust straight flow, their design are terrible .... try to go to Sunway and have a look around like kakimotor,N1 racing or the famous exhaust shop like JFA & Everco .... see their product and compare them with Kakiexhaust product , straight u will find the quality difference ~

There is a straight flow that can be silent like S-Flow .... it is done by welding a sound resonator between the piping and the straight flow muffler "like HKS Silent Hi-Power"

I know someone with a b16a who switched from straight flow to mugen twin loop ori...switched back to an even louder straight flow in less than a month....

He said it sucks....lost power everywhere....car felt heavy etc

HAHAHA, sorry...is 260km =.= rclxms.gif using back ori s-flow muffler, my wira only can run 8.6/litre...using straight flow is about 9.5/litre... 8.6/litre is same as camry ron97 =.=

This. +1

I personally used straight flow. Then changed back to ori s-flow muffler! Backpressure for going uphill was so much better even at 4th or 5th gear. The straight flow was always losing power when going uphill on 4th/5th gear.

piping too big. nothing to do with backpressure crap all exhaust shop been talking about..

try reduce piping size, definitely no problem with straight flow.
that 's-flow' and 'backpressure' is compensating your wrongly huge piping size..
