New custom regulations in place. Using your MYKAD, you are allowed 5 litres quota a month.

For duty-free liquor, must buy the max 5 litre liquor in Langkawi ? can I buy in KLIA2 after flying from Langkawi ? If not, then will need to buy luggage cos the 5 litre liquor will weight like 6 kg and AirAsia also allow 7 kg hand carry. Also if buy luggage, will the liquor bottle get broken if not handle gently by the luggage staff ?

How many of you ???

I thought new ruling said 5 litres per mth for Langkawi ?
*
Yes. 5 litres per month if you are on the duty free island.

Once you leave the island, for example to Penang or the mainland whenever, it is 1 litres per person.

The 5 litres a month regulation came about to address the issue of liquors being smuggled out to other places, like Ko Lipe etc.

U mean I can buy 5 litres in Langkawi and when I fly back to KLIA2, I will be tax on the 4 litres ?
*
One person can buy max 5 litres a month on the island.

One person can take out of island duty free 1 litre.

What for you buy 5 litres ???

Unless you drink .4 litres before you go home.

Or you have 4 others in your group to take the hit for you.

The 5 litres imposed duty free quota is actually targeted at its residents. But of course some long term expats living there drink 5 litres A WEEK. Also, millions or ringgits of alcohol were smuggled out to Thailand and the warp rationale is that the quota will curb the problem.
