Maxis also got DC-HSPA+ up to 42Mbps network now.
Celcom will be upgrading to HSPA+ then finally DC-HSPA+ as well.

Maybe you have came accross umg1831 claimed upgraded firmware to 28.8Mbps, but to my understanding, these were actually flashed with Huawei K4505 firmware, not UMG1831 own released firmware.
So stability could be an issue, and reported loosing UMG1831 IMEI number problem even later u flash back to original umg1831 firmware Thus you can flash it BUT at your own risk then.
Here u can get UMG1831 with original firmware, IMEI number intact! MY UMG1831 STOCK NEVER MESS WITH IMPROPER FIRMWARE! stable version!

Your UMG 1831 is by T-Mobile from Europe and your E367 is by Zain from Middle East.

My formal reply:

Please, this is an import technique applied by the supplier. You should have been very familiar to this operation model. Why come here to find trouble.

Nowadays all the software (mobile partner, MDMA, DC-unlocker etc) can detect hardware genuiness so easily.
If not genuine product, cannot use original huawei firmware at the first place.
Lym no stupid.

Looking at the paper box alone then tell it is genuine? what a 2012 big joke & naive!
Have u ever seen Linksys router completely in identical official packing box, same authentic sticker, same plastic casing, but fake motherboard inside!?
That is exactly what fake manufacturer doing: to make completely same external looking product to cheat buyer but fake internal component. No fake manufacturer so stupid purposely make other packing, after all how many cent to print those same paper packing in bulk?

So please stay away. Let ly.net marketplace be peaceful.

If u not aware, each Huawei 3 series modem model are divided into several stock version, denoted by the last digit number of the model number. E.g. E353u-1, E353u-2... E367u-1, E367u-2, E367u-6, E367u-8.... E372u-1, E372u-2... etc. see the u-1, u-2 difference?

The difference is which 3G band and how many 3G band supported by each modem version.
u-1 generally refers to support single 3G band: 2100MHz only,
u-2 refers to dual 3G band: 900MHz + 2100MHz ...
(if u have been duped u-1 is multiband ... good luck ... shakehead.gif )

How to check:
a) online database resources such as: http://3g-modem.wetpaint.com/page/USB+modems
b) use Huawei Mobile Partner software: Tools > Options > Network: All band (just like in the above picture).

* that's y it is better to deal with ready stock as u r assured of which stock version u will be getting instead of depends on fate which version fall to u hand.

~ Within this batch Redbull Mobile E367u-8 modem, i discovered some stock actually work in single 3g band (2100MHz), some in dual 3g band (900+2100MHz) and some in quad 3g band (850+900+1900+2100MHz).
~ From my earlier E367 stock experience, if modem casing printed in u-1 means single band, u-2 means dual 3g band, u-8 means quad 3g band.

band means radio frequency, which band mean which radio frequency..

band can affect speed. higher band can carry a lot more data, so faster transmission e.g. 2100MHz, lower band carry lower data, so lower transmmision speed. eg. 900MHz. But higher band problem having weak indoor penetration capabilities compared with lower band ie. indoor signal weak. Therefore there are plus and minus for them, no each can simply be labelled king.

currently in malaysia, all 4 3g telco use 2100MHz. only maxis/celcom started add in 900MHz since 2011 at SOME AREA only, not all around.)

the other 2 band (850MHz + 1900MHz) mostly used in western countries, so frequent travellers to west especially US would need it to serve all place they go.

you can use 3g yagi antenna ... it will boose the 2100Mhz frequency .. this is normal malaysia type 3g signal ..
i bought 1 umg1831 and it's a great HSPA+ modem .. I can get 8mbps with 3g yagi ..
some claim that UMG1831 can be flash to 28Mbps but not stable, so better use stock 21Mbps ..

the wonderful phrase by dayat to describe malaysia 3g: "this is normal malaysia type 3g signal " really speak all simply with 1 sentence.

but u have to make sure u r subscribing to telco 3G plan to use 3G, it won't be say using gsm now then can use 3g device to get 3g connectivity. the simcard by telco rule it all.

UMG1831 is work in 21.6Mbps max, its original firmware allow up to that only. some UMG1831 selling out there with claiming 28.8Mbps was flashed with huawei K4505 firmware by the dealer or supplier, not using UMG1831 original firmware. Flashing with other modem firmware is no good. and the IMEI number of UMG1831 is destroyed by that action.

anyway, Huawei 1 series modem (E1xx) actually are slowly phased out by huawei, going fully replaced by 3 series (E3xx) modem. We can see huawei seems no more new product of E1xx but more new product of E3xx. 3 series modem is better than 1 series modem, so i also decided not carry 1831 ready stock for retail sale, all replaced by E367. but still can arrange for trade bulk purchase (one person buy several units at one time) of UMG1831 if anyone still interested. One unit purchase also can be arranged if really needed.

no, they are hspa+.

not only e372 42Mbps support dc-hspa+, zte mf680 42Mbps also support. the world is not just huawei.

using a DC-HSPA+ modem doesn't mean really can get that theoritically 42Mbps, seeing U-mobile already launched DC-HSPA+ 42mbps network so long, where can see 42Mbps max and consistent speed? We must be realistic to see real malaysia telco performance at the time being.

and all newer LTE 100Mbps + 3G 42Mbps modem 2-in-1 modem, like ZTE MF820, Sierra 313u, Huawei E398 also DC-HSPA+ 42Mbps capable (they are 2 in 1 modem:　LTE + 3G dual function), therefore i don't think it is still worthy to get 3G 42Mbps only now, especially just about 5 months to go we will have LTE network in Malaysia already. most importantly LTE modem almost same or even lower price than 3G 42mbps modem now.

we should consider from the aspect of price vs real performance ratio analysis, then would know which modem worthy to get by now. just like the case ppl choose intel i5 processor more than intel i7 even i7 is the best, but price/performance ratio not leading ppl to get i7 at large. therefore E367 really a good option for that ratio analysis now.

to me, i won't bother use 900MHz slower speed band since the the highest speed band still is 2100MHz (the tradisional 3G band).(higher frequency band = carry more data = higher speed), especially we are now in hspa+ era. and paying money for that we deserve to get.

our 3G telco has been running on 2100MHz since day 1 of 3G operation (factual, not i said), and still keep running on 2100MHz. It is a licensed spectrum.

* higher frequency band = carry more data = highest speed band (also technical factual). therefore 2100MHz still the fastest band for 3G usage.

to member(s) who got lots of questions about DC-HSPA+ network, i will create a new thread and put all the info there (and direct all to read instead answer individually, tiring...). read it than every one will have a clear understanding why DC-HSPA+ far better than HSPA+ and so forth... no more influenced by 'i heard', 'he said'..this kind of info...self-judgement the best!

hello everyone, i'm 'back'.

barely no online last 2 weeks, not being able to prompt reply PM especially new enquiry.
bcoz was busy handling preorder 3G antenna stock shipping matter since 10/10.
also, e372 bulk modem arrived on 11/10.
so got to pull all time handling them first (otherwise preorder buyers would cucuk me).

this is 3G antenna stock arrival picture on 10/10

then these were standard time consuming following process:

1) stock take (qty), 1st look checking.
2) stock testing.
3) standard packing: bubble wrap + shortening parcel length + paper wrapping. (yes, got to do manually shortening the parcel bcoz too long in size would be charged by poslaju 1.5kg volumetric weight...)
4) matching converter for preorder buyer's modem.
5) preparing poslaju: parcel addressee details + poslaju form filling.

shipping out in the order of preorder buyer list (by according to date of preorder made). ALL SENT OUT LAST WEEK.

SKMM plan got capped speed if not mistaken, full speed is always available to normal plan users.

Bought ZTE MF680 from TS. Very good. Runs super hot, especially if connected to DC-HSPA+ or no ventilation- not enough to give speeds too much of adverse effect. Overall, quite satisfied. I've already downloaded >30GB with this modem, and I only got it like 2 weeks ago. Great job TS.
