5.1.1 cant unlock yet. i downgraded to 4.3.3 and working fine now with modern firmware: 2.10.04

hi all. i am new in this jailbreak thing. all guidance will be much appreciated.

I am currently using an iphone 3gs with jailbroken firmware 4.1.

A few questions:
1. Is it possible for me to upgrade my firmware to a jailbroken firmware 4.3?
and if yes please provide some startup information if possible

2. If I upgrade my current firmware to the latest one using iTunes, will my chat history of free apps such as Whatsapp, Facebook, KakaoTalk etc remain or will they be deleted?

1. yes 4.3 is there on the SHSH list on Cydia

2&3. Using what program to back up may I ask? (iTunes or some other 3rd party program)

u may wanna back up your cydia tweaks. just search on cydia and install APT backup. once installed. just open it and tap back up. after u done jb, install bak this app, and restore from back up. it will automatically install back all your cydia tweaks

ok now for the upgrade and downgrade process:

1. check your model build, the last 2 letters do they end in LL or MY. if ur set is malaysian set, it shud be MY. else, or even refurbished unit (i.e. u claimed for 1:1 exchange before) it'll be LL

there's a difference in the steps if your build is LL (in my case), u need to create a custom IPSW to preserve Baseband. after u create this custom-preserveBB ipsw, u follow the steps to stitch it with your SHSH blobs. follow the rest of step and u shud find yourself on 5.X again. then JB it

but make sure u read first ok? it took me many trials and errors and was very frustration, i don't think any other ppl wanna experience it.

JB Developer will not release IOS 6.0.2 Untethered JB which they're using right now, they all waiting for Apple to release IOS 6.1.0

So i guess we all have to live to what we have now.

The last iPhone I have (which has been fully restored to 6.1 and has its backup restored to normal) is the 4s. I don't have the iPhone 5 because I did not upgrade to that phone (I went the Windows Phone route and bought the Lumia 920) so I do apologize if some of my post pasal iPhone 5 is incorrect. Most iPhone for Malaysia uses the GSM firmware but I guess the iPhone 5 is a bit different.

I have been jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones since the 3Gs days. I now have an iPhone 4, iPhone 4s and 2 iPad 2, all jailbroken one way or another.

Read up the thread, yes it's 2400 post long, but almost all of the questions have been answered.

I concentrate mostly now in the Windows Phone section, so maybe after this thread which is close to 2500 post, somebody else can take over. Someone like bro @yezhacolic
