To those who feel that their iPad is running too warm, I just wanna share my thoughts and a bit of my usage habits.

For brightness, I set it at about four-tenth of the brightness with auto brightness off. This way, the screen won't be too bright till it hurts your eyes (100% brightness is just plain crazy, IMHO), but bright enough not to strain your eyes.

I'm using a smart cover, and as I love to caress the silky smooth naked back of my iPad, I'm not using any extra cases.

In these settings, I've been using my iPad for hours on end, playing games, editing photos on iPhoto, reading books, surfing the net and even FaceTiming with my girl. And all the while my iPad did not run uncomfortably warm. Just lukewarm, not even as bad as my iPhone after a long phone call. Oddly enough, playing games did not make it even lukewarm, but reading does ...

I hope this helps. Enjoy your iPad. I know I'm enjoying mine immensely.

Btw, my screen is perfect~! So, I'm thanking all that's holy that my unit turns out perfect!

What about your serial number? Looks like DYTH is the one to avoid.

But mine is also DYTH wo.

I've got a white 64GB Wifi Only model.

I did testing on the spot for dead pixels and dusts and yellow tints.

For any product, if you search around you will only read what's bad. If all ok the owner won't be complaining online. Do you know how many millions iPad sold? If everyone is having problems, there will be millions of complains.

If you look for problems, you're gonna find it

For now, I'm convinced that most of the new iPads out there has their own problem, it's just that some users can't see it. So even if I were to send in to exchange it for a refurbished unit, I might get a unit with different problems.

... Yes, exactly. That's why there are so many millions of satisfied iPad 3rd gen users. Cuz they were delusional ...

I guess after three iPads, I'm delusional as well ... I should go see a psychiatrist.
