actually i am curious... most ppl here say it fail becoz of cosmetic reasons or car safety?
if safety, we can always refer to the side impact test results... unless we can get an objective opinion from an experienced car engineer...
if cosmetic, well... tutup mata lar.. 65k... u expect nice nice welding meh

judging from the photo, i may conclude
1. yes it is spot weld, nothing wrong with that. 2. the quality of spot weld is not acceptable by JIS body shop standard (pre assemble the metal part before send for paintworks) 3. 1 of the photo clearly shown misalignment of the 2 panels, should the panels involve mechanical movement, ie window glass railings, this may distort the movement thus case premature power-window issues. 4. the poor welding finishing may cause water ingression and develop rust in future (as you can see on top right photo, there might already be some rust mark there)
Just my 2 cents. Hope that proton can improve in this This post has been edited by FrostLance: Apr 18 2012, 10:46 PM

QUOTE(matnur_83 @ Apr 18 2012, 09:55 PM) this is on a toyota altis. this is failure of the ED coating. Electro deposition for corrosion protection. Can happen if the company that supply them the ED coat did not do their homework properly. no use blaming Toyota. I have seen a local assembled BMW rusting completely from a failed ED coat.

QUOTE(ericmaxman @ Apr 18 2012, 06:31 PM) blurr la. sohai phone take sohai pic but if u insist 1st picture = welding pass 2nd picture = welding fail and also QC fail , i cant believe proton QC will release the car like this 3nd picture = welding pass (2nd grade) , welding location abit low and temperature too high 4th picture = welding fail send back for repair , that why you see 2 time welding on the same place.
