Liverpool: Reds Sign Youth International

Liverpool have moved to secure the signature of promising midfielder Dan Smith from Crewe Alexandra.

Manchester City were thought to be close to taking the 16-year-old to Eastlands a couple of months ago but with that move breaking down, the Reds have capatalised by agreeing a fee thought to be around £300,000 plus extras based on future appearances etc.

Crewe spokesman Rob Wilson is quoted as telling the Crewe Chronicle: "We are naturally disappointed that Dan has decided to sign for Liverpool.

"The club has received an undisclosed fee and future add-ons but we would have much preferred to have seen him play for our first team."

Despite no comment being forthcoming from Anfield as yet, the England youth international seemingly confirmed the transfer by posting a picture of himself with Kenny Dalglish on Twitter under the caption 'signing for Liverpool'.

Well, sum call it rebuilding.  what make the stat worst is we spend perfectly good amount of money to get where we are today.

Tomorrow labour day...no need to go to school...

can't wait to watch the game... we will prove the world that money can't buy everything...!!!

Liverpool's 2011/12 PL season is pathetic. It is so bad that even winning the carling cup and being in the FA cup final is no consolation.

Now we go into this Saturday's cup final as overwhelming underdogs (if there's such a thing!).

I suppose KD must be feeling alot of pain now. Any other manager will most likely shrug his shoulders and say "tough luck, what can we do?" But as the king of the kop, KD must be agonising.

This season's gone. We've no other choice but to look forward to the new season.  I don't see the Americans coughing up much more money for KD this summer. I cannot blame them if they don't.

winning trophies this season IS a start.

Ultimately we need to be in the league of clubs that are financially well off.
Getting back into contention for CL & rejoining the competition of the highest level in europe.

That will help our cause to ultimately try to win the trophy that has eluded us for so may years.

You will be very disappointed. Players don't just come to Liverpool because of the illustrious history of the club or just because they supported the club as a kid for that matter.

Without Champions League football, it's hard to attract top talents from all over Europe. That is the reason why Torres, Mascherano, Kuyt and Alonso joined us in the first place. TO win things. Not because of their sentiments or love with Liverpool. Players dun just strike a chord with the club all of sudden. If they left when the club is down, it's just the way the world spins around. Club moves on. Players move on.

Gerrard was this CLOSE to moving to Chelsea after CL victory but thank god somebody knocked some senses into him. Carragher? Dun think I heard if there are clubs interested in him in his entire career. As for Reina, I always thought he is a good man but cant be sure if big clubs like Barcelona come knocking on his door. That will be a real test of character then.

You want a player who plays genuinely for Liverpool? Get a Scouser. Wait, even Owen left us for greater glory.

Point is, Players do play for glory and money. And YES,  the bond between the manager and player is equally important as well. Manager is also part of the lure, so you have to accept  the fact. We will see which top talent comes to Liverpool with KD in charge and without CL football and splashing massive amount of cash(if he's still around).

Isn't that the things happened to us all season long? We ended up losing most of the times. I dont see spirit, determination and heart in them to win the game. Enrique was poor. Spearing made a mistake. Reina flop yet again

keep dalglish one more season...we need time to rebuild...and we must believe we can do it.

we have got the motivator in kd and tactician abit in steve clarke.

we just need to bring in better player a better football director at negotiating better deal and also offer better advice for KD.

and despite all the criticism,Carroll's ability was never in doubt.also i still believe henderson will come good.perhaps we have to see him playing alongside lucas then probably he will show what he can do around the box.
