Thanks for adding me in. I've owned mine since May actually, though I never knew there was an owners club for it.

Will be adding an ssd soon- the standard hard disk is the only weak link in this laptop IMO.

And another 4gb of ram- the original is Hyundai. Anyone know of any incompatibilities if I plug in another 4gb of Kingston?

No incompatibilities on adding another 4gb of kingston ram, just did that myself the moment i bought the laptop at the store itself. works fine, windows reports 8gb but says only 7.84gb is usable... usually the case with any combination of ram even if its the same ones, even on different machines. probably some memory has been allocated to the intel gpu.

Thanks for the quick reply. In goes another 4gb ram, and hoping to buy an Intel 330 128gb too.

Hmm, I never really realized that. I've used mine all the time with a CM notebook cooler cause the GT640m gets real hot while gaming.

see if your fan does pause when the machine is idle. most laptops are suppose to, specially with ivy bridge, its a power-saving feature since the fan does take a lot of power. My samsung NP350V4X does pause its fan.

Have you monitored any of your temperatures? i used realtemp and gpu-z, playing battlefield 3 the temps highest 88-91c gpu; cpu 88c

let me know your idle temps as well, once u have rested the machine for about 30mins or more.

OK, doing some testing now. The fan at idle does pause, at least I can't feel it nor hear it. Temps at idle are GPU: 42c, Core 0: 55c, Core 1: 52c, Core 2: 46c, Core 3: 48c.

Next will stress it with some games.
