I use a dell latitude e6420 and it's a solid laptop build wise (uses a magnesium construction for the build). I'm quite sure the e6320 is made of the same materials.. obviously it's not a gaming laptop but it handles multimedia ok (mine's core i5-2520M @ 2.5GHz, 64bit win 7 pro, 4gb ram, nvidia nvs4200m 512mb ddr3, 500gb 7200rpm, 1366x768 14", e.t.c... but no usb 3.0 sad.gif ). its a weeny little bit heavier than other laptops in its class though. If you're not gonna be using it for games, then yeah go for it.

hi pros smile.gif i have a question regarding asus n56 variations

by the power of omnipotent google, i am acknowledged that there is 2 version, namely europe & asia N56VM and north america N56VZ

N56VM -  Intel Core i7-3720QM + nVidia GeForce GT 630M
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,24033...0.asp?tab=Specs

N56VZ -  Intel Core i7-3610QM + nVidia GeForce GT 650M GDDR3
http://www.excaliberpc.com/615926/asus-n56...abSpecification

i am interested to buy that model when i saw pictures from ces, but now i m struggling  sad.gif

which would be better of the two, and can i even buy that model from america?  icon_question.gif
*
it could be possible that VZ models may not come here cos this was what someone posted in another thread http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry51092416 although its too early to say.. just wait a while

I just saw this and i thought i'd share... http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/14/intel-i...-thermal-paste/

it seems like intel is using cheap thermal paste on the new ivy processors which is why they're getting really hot, maybe now that people know intel may be forced to use the better thermal paste.. so to guys looking to buy ivy bridge based laptops (myself included) i say we should all wait until this is sorted out..

Hm, I asked devour, and he said that he has the GT 640M LE in stock.
I asked hikari85, she said the distributor spec list shows: Nvidia GT640M 2GB HD Graphic

What if I purchase it and it is LE and not Kepler?  hmm.gif
*
Well if you look here http://www.anandtech.com/show/5697/nvidias...shrinks-oh-my/2 the "LE" can be either kepler architecture (28nm GK107 GPU) or the older fermi architecture (40nm GF108). All in all if you're worried about the "power" of the GPU then don't go for LE rather go for "M" ie. GT640M Kepler -> GT640LE (kepler/fermi)

Sorry mang i'm not good at explaining.
Saucebbq: Cache Computing - Wikipedia.com
They just guessing and you should take notebookcheck data with a grain of salt since it is not very accurate.
There is no data whatsoever regarding 7730M performance except 3DMark11 scores by Whirpool forumer.
*
Well its more of an educated guess than just plain guessing since they (notebookcheck) actually do some research before posting anything http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD...0M.72678.0.html

Ya mang.. very educated indeed when they put GTX470M on top of GTX480M.  rclxms.gif
*
Of course when GTX470M has higher core speed and memory speed what do you expect?

Model Arch. pixel shaders/ vertex shaders core spd shader spd mem. spd mem. bus directx 3DMark05 3DMark06 3DM Vant. P GPU 3DMark11
GTX 470M Fermi 288 535 1070 1250 192 11 23057 16509 8589.3 2002.5
GTX 480M Fermi 352 425 850 1200 256 11 20818 15393.8 7906.3 2184.5

If you still don't agree http://compare-processors.com/rank/noteboo...M=on&cp=Compare GTX470M > GTX480M so yeah I still think notebookcheck's data is ok.

The new dell 3rd gen core good or not for mid gaming assigment and mid edit ?
*
The new 3rd gen core processor based PCs/laptops are faster and more power efficient than the 2nd gen processor based counterparts. So yes it is better for mid gaming and editing.

1. Preferred Brand - no preference
2. Budget - RM3k or less
3. Usage - gaming (diablo 3, not the BF/COD type), photo editing, plans to explore video editing
4. Preferred laptop/screen size=no preference

If weight and screen resolution isn't going to be an issue I'd say go for the 15R SE otherwise go for the 14R SE. But if you really are into photo editing you might want to go for the 15R SE with full HD screen (order online and get rm200 redemption to 2,999). http://www.dell.com/my/p/inspiron-15r-se-7...ron-15r-se-7520

actually it don't have to be dell, can be other brand also.

Go to http://www.dell.com/my/p/inspiron-15r-se-7520/fs select the one on the right (RM3,199) if you want the backlit keyboard click customise, on the customise page click "SWITCH TO LIST VIEW" and scroll down to the Keyboard section, select the 2nd keyboard option (+rm42).

is there different ? with gt650m DDR3 and GDDR5
because n56vz is using NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 650M with 2GB DDR3 VRAM
i am worried it effect the performance
*
To an extent yes, but then it can be "balanced" with the amount of ram available.... for example people are ok to have gt640m with 2gb ddr5 because performance wise, it can match gt650m with 1gb ddr3. so in your case where its gt650m with 2gb ddr3, performance should not be an issue at all.

itking also bring in y480 gt650m at rm2380.
is this price going to be the standard price for this model? hmm.gif
if true how can other brand can compete with this price n performance? hmm.gif
*
What are the screen resolutions (1366x768 vs 1600x900 vs 1920x1080), the hdd speed (5400rpm vs 7200rpm), ram speed (1666mHz vs 1333mHz) ? it could be that the RM23XX models have the "low" end specs, if they do then it could make sense, otherwise it just means lenovo don't want to give any other manufacturers chances tongue.gif
