I'm getting a new laptop soon. Studying in KL now but will be leaving for UK in another 1.5 years. I wanted a Asus A53TK but my parents said it's not good enough so yea.

Brand: No Acer
Budget: 2k-3k. I can afford a 4k laptop but if only it is necessary.
Usage: Usual stuffs. I'm not hardcore gamer. A casual one I suppose but I'm planning to use this new laptop to run games like GTA 4 and the upcoming Hitman Absolution.
Screen Size: Prefer 15 inch but if there are no better options, I can settle for a 14 inch.

I'm giving priorities to laptops with international warranty, Dell and Asus in particular. Do other brands offer good international warranty?

AMD Llano (and maybe Trinity)... Are they good enough for my type of gaming?

What does your parents mean when they said its not good enough?

Are you looking for laptops with AMD Llano/Trinity?
What about Intel?

Sorry for not being clear enough. What they meant was 1.6k=cheap=not good...

But I'm over that now. Looking at laptops with Intel Processors. I heard Ivy Bridge runs at higher temperature than Sandy Bridge. Is that true? Heat is a very big concern to me. I'm currently looking at Dell Inspiron 14R SE and HP dv6 i7 7690m XT. I don't want a Asus N56 because I'm not really fond of it's design. Any better recommendation? 640M vs 7690MXT, is the difference really noticeable? smile.gif

True but not entirely. IB runs slightly higher compared to SB.This is comparing relatively so no worries about the temperature  nod.gif

Both are good laptops but HP dv6 is abit older and there will be new dv6 laptops to be introduced.

Can try these 15":

Asus
N55Sl-S2064v, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT635M + (1600x900)@RM2899[Bang & Olufsen], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm)
N56Vz-S3088V, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M@RM2699[Bang&Olufsen], 4GB, 750GB, W7HP, subwoofer and backpack

Dell
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M@RM2799, 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional

For your usage, an i3/i5 will be sufficient. As i7 will generate more heat and you're not going to be fully utilising it.

For your usage: movies, games, etc. , it will be great. If you have the budget  smile.gif
You can top up abit to get 3 years international warranty.
