hello everyone..new here..and im nt frm malaysia..im frm bangladesh..
will visit msia on 8th of this month and planning to get a laptop fr myslef..
buget is relatively low..its around 2000RM
ill be doing pretty heavy work..but not too heavy..ill be using it for photoshopping, premier pro, after effects and basically almost all the other new cs6 programs..
ill also use it for my music production software..but its less demanding( fl studio, live)
i might be asking too much for my budget but thats all the money i got
i am looking for a laptop with
1.good battery life--preferably over 7 hours
2.thinner thn usual
3.good looking
4. dedicated graphics(not sure if built in would handle the graphics editing softwares)
5.good keyboard and touchpad
6.13-14 inch screen (screen quality is kinda imp)
7.good build quality

now a laptop like this is hard to find but acer's 4830tg was a perfect choice.
but i head some people complaining about the screen and build quality.
but still i was certain i would buy tht very laptop and replace the dvd rom with an ssd to make this an ultimate laptop..
until i saw the price tag in misa-2500RM
that is just out of my budget..

so guys plz help me find a laptop..or if i can but this laptop new for 2000RM from any place
also other preferred brands are-lenovo,asus,dell and hp

thanx a lot guys..

ok...i read some older post and found out that dell released new ivy bridge laptops...so dell it is..but not sure which one i should go for
battery life-longer the better
thnx again

This one from Dell would be the best pick at the moment although its a bit more than RM2k:
Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2199[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm); backlit keyboard optional
But then since its very new, you won't be able to find any stock in any stores when you come.. online order will usually take one week for the laptop to be built and delivered... so I guess you're going to have to pass this one..

Most laptops at this price range does not have a good screen or speakers, so you're going to have to compromise abit sad.gif
Can consider these though, they're known to have slightly better screens:
14"
Toshiba Satellite L745-1204XB/XR/XW, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT525M@RM2099, color: brown/red/white, 2nd & 3rd year local limited warranty
Prices are in RRP, can bargain~

thnx for the input la..id be staying there for about a week..cannot order online..dont have any credit cards..need to buy it frm a local store..
for the looks, battery life(if it really is 6.5 hrs) and specs..i can definitely spend 1,200 RM..ive wanted the IB since it came out..but realized it would be too expensive..
the dell inspiron 14r se is just too sweet to ignore...really...so if there is any possibility of it becoming available by 12-14th of this month..i might as well wait..it would be worth the wait..

so guys if i dont find inspiron 14r se in store..what would be my ideal alternative?
for -nt much gaming, but photoshopping, using permier pro and after effects.
budget- <2200RM
specs-newer the better, needs to be thin, light, and if possible good looking, with a good keyboard and touchpad and should hold the charge for more than 6-7 hrs

i already posted all these..but wrote them again to so u guys dnt hav to go hav a look at the old post

well..i could finally buy inspiron 14r frm the store..i had to buy the normal version without backlit keyboard because the stores had very limited supply.
mine came with the gt630 1gb graphics and i upgraded the ram upto 8 gb

everything is amazing but the battery life is less than what i had expected..it comes around 4 to 4.5 hrs which is far far less than the 4830tg
4830tg had the same price tag of 1999RM but because of the older technology, i opted for this one..
any idea how i can increase the battery life?

Actually GT540m = GT630m hmm.gif
Try to disable unused background files, that'll help reduce battery consumption.. 4-4.5 hours is quite standard, just about half an hour shorter than what the 4830Tg can achieve I think?

i thought the acer laptop had around 8+ hours of battery life? if it had around 5 hrs..then of course dell is a PURE win!
its has 4 usb ports..all of which are usb 3.0.. i was shocked after seeing that! it is an amazing value for what it delivers...really
and also the touchpad in quite nice. The addition of two seperate button is good too..the multi touch gestures is fine too.. amazing!

Well, battery life varies according to usage.. most of the time, manufacturers often post the battery runtimes when on idle (no Wifi) =.=
According to the review here, with Wifi on, the battery life was 6.5 hours for the 4830Tg: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Acer-A...ok.53433.0.html
For your Dell, it depends on your usage as well, I'm sure you'll be able to squeeze out more battery juice yo  brows.gif

lets see how far i can get with it brows.gif brows.gif
