Looking for laptop for my gf (& her mom) to be use for PPS & web surfing, maybe sometimes Photoshop. I have PC knowledge, so tech wise I'm still ok, just that I want to know more about the brand's build quality & warranty (good or not). I heard that Dell's laptop breaks a lot from lots of friends, so is it wise to no take any Dell's laptop?

1. Preferred Brand: No preference
2. Budget: Under RM2k
3. Usage: Watch movies, surf web, no gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14" to 15"

Under 2k for those purposes? I suggest the Asus A-series. You can get them basically for under RM2k and they're ASUS! Haha. biggrin.gif

Yeah, to get a decent and won't be that much out dated piece. Plus the need to use Photoshop (or some similar editing programs).

Asus build quality and warranty good?

you should pick dell laptop, its warranty is the best
+ with your budget, dell inspiron series would be good pick as if compare with hp g series, asus a series, the speaker / sound effect of it are much better - louder

Yeah, I know about their warranty but can you confirm about their build quality? When I ask about my friends who owns a Dell, all of them had some kinda problem. Button, hinge, mobo, screen problems... that is why they need to build up a good warranty service. My gf and I own a 6 year and a 4 year laptop without any problem at all...

In the end, I prefer build quality>warranty... hmm.gif since that a laptop without problem didn't need any kind of warranty, isn't that right? thumbup.gif Btw. I think the first page can list out all the brand's pros & cons, as this is the only thing that needs previous experience.
