Hi gurus,

1. Preferred Brand - Any
2. Budget - Below 3k
3. Usage - Play Diablo 3, surfing, watch movies
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 15.6", res 1600x900

I want to get a new laptop, mainly to play Diablo 3 since my old one couldn't support the game. I did some research and my ideal laptop would be Asus N55Sl-S2064v. The only problem is it's being phased out and out of stock. And i am not sure if there is other option with similar spec.

If there is really none, i might need to settle with lower resolution, since most full HD ones exceed my budget. Or if gurus know anywhere still selling N55 please let me know.

Many thanks in advance.

You are right, there are no 15" laptops with HD+ or FullHD resolutions at the moment sad.gif
You can consider this one though, pair it up with an external monitor and you're good to go tongue.gif
Asus N56Vz-S3088V, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M@RM2699[Bang&Olufsen], 4GB, 750GB, W7HP, subwoofer and backpack

1. Preferred Brand : Any brand that is reliable and don't end its life in a weird way oh and after sales service too.
2. Budget : RM2k and below
3. Usage : Viewing HR pictures and editing using Ps and Lr and probably watch some movies.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 15"6 - 16" prefer a matt screen instead of glossy as I hate the reflections on the screen.

Thanks!

Are there any else than the Vostro series? Scrap the matt screen for this as not much selections at this budget.

These perhaps?

Hi all,

1. Preferred Brand - No preference
2. Budget - 3K
3. Usage - Autocad, photoshop
4. Preferred screen size - 13" - 14"

This is for my little sis who is studying architecture, so i prefer it to be compact but still packs a punch. i'm currently looking at this
CODE
http://www.samsung.com/my/consumer/pc-peripherals-printer/notebook-pc/ultra-portable/NP530U4B-S01MY

spec:-
i5 1.6Ghz (2.3Ghz turbo boost)
16g express cache (ssd performance?)
1tb hdd
nvidia 620m 1g ddr3 (retail unit at lyp has this card although at web says amd 7550m)
ram built in 4g ddr3 + 2g ddr3 slotted (have 1 slot only)

my only concern is the cpu being at 1.6 ghz, can handle heavy autocad? or u guys have better recommendation?
*
These perhaps?
14"
Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2799[2.38kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional
Lenovo Y480, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT640(40nm Fermi)@2999[JBL], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard

Not sure whther its compact enough for your sis or not, but they are powerful

haha...yeah.. u r rght.. de spec dat i wan n require not suit wit ultrabook spec.. but really love de look..  ~.~
btw, all model dat u suggest already in my mind.. juz de mobility make me stil hesitate to go gaming laptop.. haiyaa... juz realize RMBP suit me well.. but i never use mac os b4... hmmm..
yeah.. msi laptop quite ok for me.. wink.gif
btw, y gaming laptop not using ssd?? i think de weight will be lesser if equipped wit ssd.. summore ssd more powerful..
*
Well, you can try and play around with Mac OSX 1st and see whether you like it or not~
Most importantly I think you need to check and see whether the programs you are using are supported or not..
SSD is more expensive, equipping SSDs will cost the price of the laptop to shoot skyhigh sad.gif

QUOTE(guilt @ Jun 23 2012, 09:41 PM)
Hi there, I am looking for a 14"/15" laptop with at least 1600X900 display resolution, i have been looking around the hp, lenovo, dell, and asus' site, but found none that fits the bill.
Preferably with at least 3 hours of battery life as well, spec isn't too important, as most laptops nowadays have considerable power already.. price below RM2800.

No brands preferences, but i would like to avoid acer if possible,
*
Don't think there is one (new laptop) bro unfortunately sad.gif
Unless if you can find the earlier generation Asus N55Sf/SL, the next closest is RM3.1k (Dell Inspiron 15R SE)

Apart from ultrabooks and some Macbooks which have soldered SDDs, and some MSI models; others won't void warranty when you upgrade SSD yourself right? hmm.gif
But need to put back the original HDD when you're sending the laptop back to service centers... at least that's what I've heard tongue.gif

HP Pavilion G4-2026TX/2027TX, i3-2350M + AMD HD7670M@RM1999, 4GB, 640GB(5400rpm), W7HP; colors: black/red

The 1st one would be good enough though if budget is a problem nod.gif
