hi there... i have a question in my mind quite sometimes ago with regards of supplementary.

I am a skinny guy, weight around 55kg currently, tall 172cm. I started training 2 mths ago and everything is going fine.

Currently, I am taking Mass Gain post workout. While for my rest day, my trainer suggest me not to take supplementary and get REAL FOOD instead.

However, friend of mine share experience with me telling me that he took supplement almost everyday and sometimes twice a day. I have a mindset like why not take in Mass Gain during workout day, and Whey Protein on rest day. Is it necessary? I got no problem hitting my current diet plan which is around 2500 cal per day.

Besides that, I am having BSN True Mass with 700 calories per serving. I wonder + a bit afraid as i wish to switch to ON Serious Mass or BSN True Mass 1200. More calories and faster get result...

Oh ya, is the Serious Mass from ON taste awful? Read quite some from the google...

hey janson, thanks for your reply mate.

Means it got no harm for me to have shakes even I am not on workout? yes, solid food also my priority.

But with my current body size, is 2500 calories per day sufficient? if you ask me, to top up 1000 more, i must take the mass gain (my stomach can't fill so much of solid foods currently)

Oh yes, you got the point... i tend to drink my shakes right after my workout, some said it is a golden 30mins which i don't think so after i read around sweat.gif enlighten me if i am wrong. Once took the shake, my solid meal after 30min kinda like force it to the stomach icon_question.gif

provided you train consistently, ie 3-7 days a week, those non work out days are recovery days, therefore your body needs the same amount of nutrient for recovery.

i dont count my calories like most do. i just eat accordingly. and it's simple science, eat more grow more.

anabolic window or whatever window is all myth. don't need to stay in the gym to drink your shake. go home or go out and eat proper meal is better smile.gif

thanks for your sharing janson...

hmm... looks like i gonna do something, i'm getting excited day by day when doing workout...
just somehow, trainer ask me don't take supplement always... start slow with 2500 cal per day etc...

while u in some supplement store, they will ask you buy more because you just need it everyday... example like one 5lb BSN True Mass just for 16 servings... if drink everyday means last around two weeks only bla bla bla...

woot, i understand... trainer got his business, supplement outlet have their business too.. so? erhemmm.... i'm still learning notworthy.gif

May I know why you started with mass gainer anyway? I remember when I was skinny I bought those weight gainer powder from pharmacy hoping it would bring miracle lol

one of the reasons why skinny ppl r skinny is because they just don't eat enough no matter how much they claim they eat. I'm speaking from my own experience myself. forcing yourself to eat a lot is a way of telling your body to change your appetite. when you are slightly advanced later, u will be laughing at yourself now like "why din I just eat MORE? it feels so easy now!"

my mindset is i want to gain weight... protein for muscle gain and carbs is for weight gaining... that's why i choose Mass Gain... but a lot ppl said it is just carbs junk but a plain whey protein seems not helpful for me to gain weight...

any thought?

i still prefer solid food as supplement does work differently on different human body... like one of my bro's friend, he grew a lot of white hair since he took shakes everyday... scaryy shocking.gif

Plain wrong. You need calories to gain weight and build muscle. Both protein and carbs provides calories; and fat too.

tbh, our malaysian food is full with carbs, therefore what you lack is actually protein. just eat tonnes of food and drink protein shake.

and i still have plentiful of black hair despite years of taking shakes  shocking.gif

yea, especially we chinese ate a lot of carbs... like rice and noodles... basically, i don't have problems to hit my protein and carbs target... i'm an ectomorph, so 50% carbs, 35% protein and 15% fat... the one which make me headache is fat...

protein i can archive even without shakes, but during workout day i will take shakes for sure...

out of topic a bit...guess what, i slowly get sicked of hard boil eggs these few days... last night almost vommit when my tongue touch the egg york blush.gif is it necessary to eat the york aR?
