I'm 175cm tall, 72Kg, 27% BF.

I'm starting my cutting phase now. Question is, how much protein should I get / day?

I know the calculation of xgram of protein / pound of body weight but in this case I don't even have that much muscle mass and most of my weight are fat.

1g/lb of bodyweight is a good number for both bulking & cutting.

Alright, thanks. Will be updating my goals. Seems like I'm needing around 159 (which I expect to be more than enough since my weight consists of lotsa fat)

Err, too much money to spend?

Get pre-workout, post-workout, intra workout and etc.

Probably can burn few hundreds in your pockets.

Would you recommend Syntha 6 ? Trying to hit my daily protein needs with supps.

I wouldn't. Although Syntha-6 tastes amazing, it has a lower protein/scoop ratio compared to others.
*
So basically you guys pick by comparing the price:protein/scoop ratio ?

Then is this a good deal ?

If you really need that much of protein in a blend, the highest would be RCSS Pro Antium with 29g per scoop or Hydrobuilder with 30g per scoop.

For me, I would just suggest a normal whey like Mutant or San, consume it more, and probably job's done.
It has one of the highest calories too.

There are other alternative to Syntha-6 laugh.gif
*
Hmm my priority is anything cheap as long as it works. Thanks man.

QUOTE(kmed @ Sep 3 2013, 05:18 PM)
when I buy protein these are my priorities, in sequence.

1. price.
2. protein per serving + number of serving.
3. flav/ taste.

I pretty much don't look at the brand. effectiveness is subjective. so I have to try to know.
*
That's my list as well, in the same order.

QUOTE(chiahau @ Sep 3 2013, 06:29 PM)
Define effectiveness? How you can know the item is effective when it's just whey laugh.gif
*
So in short, gotta try to know eh? If like that I'll start cheap. RM90 for 57 servings, total 1140grams of protein.

QUOTE(harris92 @ Sep 3 2013, 06:43 PM)
Too headache to count for you. LOL. But here's what I do since I'm not THAT particular about anything else except protein amount. I take the price of the protein shake tub, and divide it by the number of servings. Compare how much it costs per-scoop with other brands, and sooner or later you'll find the most worth it one.
*
Yeah, I'm doing that as well right now. I guess it's the logical way for me to pick since I have thin wallet.

to get the best deal you must purchase in 10lb bags

for 5lb, try platinum/titanium whey from musclemaniaclub
*
100% pure titanium whey - RM148 = 75 scoops, each scoop 23g protein
100% pure platinum whey - RM148 = 75 scoops, each scoop 23g protein

both identical price and identical protein per scoop. What gives? Do you know the difference of both man?

The protein helps but if your diet is messed up, it will not. Don't blame the protein thou. It's just a supplement.
*
I'm through that part man. My calories are in check, my meals are in check as well. I'm just getting the last 50g or so of protein from them supplements to meet the requirements. The gaining part that I mentioned is actually lean muscles. If the supplement doesn't work then my daily protein requirements aren't met bro. Then I'll have to try a different brand.

I'm not the noob who treats them powder as magic powder bro..

None the less, thanks for the advice though.

IMO I think any brand of protein is still protein, nothing to do with ur gains. If its not the diet must be the work in the gym..
*
QUOTE(Dagger69 @ Nov 8 2013, 08:10 AM)
Dymatize is the cheapest but it didnt give me much gains.

Swapped with ON gold, BOOOM huge improvement..best protein ever.
*
I think if all brand works the same then there shouldn't be so much price difference in some. And the difference of active ingredients should make some different results? But what do I know, this is only my second tub.

I've gained around 1pounds of lean mass in the previous month along with some 2.5lbs of fat. I'll know for sure on my next measure up if this combat powder works for me.

Because they are of different categories, try categorizing them into isolates, concentrates, etc. they roughly price the same. i've tried 3-4 brands and yea i admit whey protein isolate obviously works better than concentrate, but if u're comparing isolates to isolates, not much diff.
*
Point taken, noted.

On a side note, do you guys increase your caloric intake as you gain more ? (Though my common sense tells me "Of course!")

QUOTE(alien9 @ Nov 12 2013, 05:24 PM)
My answer would be of course too. Because your BMR is highly correlated with your muscle mass. More muscle mass meaning more BMR hence more TDEE.
*
Yeah that makes sense. I'll see if I'm gaining this month. If I stopped gaining, I'll up my meals.

QUOTE(Damien?(: @ Nov 12 2013, 06:08 PM)
Yeah of course. Feels good to be able to eat alot hehe tongue.gif
