my PS3 gave up on me. so now i'm opting for the PC platform, hopefully it's not too late. before that, some quick questions (i can only get my hands on the standard edition):

i. how much would the karkand DLC cost and how big is the dload?
ii. how many patches are there, should i not buy karkand, and how big are they?
iii. how big is the next DLC (the one tuned for close combat)? will it cost anything?
iv. and do anybody know where i can get the LE? would i get any of the above for free?

1. You can only download Karkand through Origin , cause EA has not brought out physical copies for that DLC.Download size for the DLC is around 4GB (Couldn't remember , but it's within that number)
2. Quite a number of patches , if you don't buy karkand , you will be kicked out of the server when the server changes map to B2K maps.
3. Still no info on close combat , but my predictions would be around the same as B2K in terms of file size , you will need to buy it unfortunately.
4. As far as i know , all LE stock are already finished.

I bought mine off cdkeyhouse, afaik you can buy the B2K DLC from Origin, not sure bout the game itself. When you activate and download the game from Origin (it'll auto install); it it already up to date [as what I experienced since I only started BF3 a month ago..]

It's a web selling digital keys. rather cheap .. at most 5-10$ more expensive than (if comparing B2K dlc, origin 15$, cdkeyhouse 17$) origin. but cheaper than retail.

note:
If you happen to own Sapphire card
you can grab back to karkand for free when you purchase Battlefield 3 in origin

okay cool. what's the advantages (or disadvantages) of buying from origin vs cdkeyhouse apart from the price difference?

also another question:

if i buy a digital version of the game, say from origin, will i get the updated version (meaning i dont have to dload patches anymore), or do i still have to update again?

Download installer > Install game > Update game

No advantages or disadvantages. On CDKHouse.. if you bought the Russian *only RM65 like that* standard edition, only trouble is whenever the game has any patches, you need to update your game's English .dll file (which is used to change your Russian game to English. not very big files to change, ~2mb only)

From my very own experience, I bought the Russian standard one, when I activated > downloaded > installed and then I played it right away. I don't remember that I needed any updates. I think it is included together in the installation, not very sure though. If you have any buddies nearby you who plays PC up-to-date version, you can copy from them and paste it in "program files (x86)\origin games\battlefield 3" ; then origin (platform app) will detect the client and if it's up to date, it'll launch the game, if not, it'll update it.

p/s : *im not supposed to say this but* if you have jack sparrow version for PC, even though not up to date, you can move it to that program files location and origin should be able to update it. remove the c*ack though.

Buy from Origin. They even have a short cut bundle which will unlock everything for you. That's right. All the weapon for infantry, jet, heli, tanks. No need to work your way up. Since it is hard to play competitively in multiplayer without those advance weapons.

I still haven't unlock the air radar for my heli and jet yet.. Kind of suck...
