Just spoke to someone involved in the project. There are 8 Herrenknecht machines and 2 more from another company (these are the Semantan ones).
3 machines are being assembled and another 2 are on site in KL. Instead of following the typical convention of naming the machines with individual names, they have gone with identifying the drives. The ones at Cochrane are named Cochrane 1 and Cochrane 2. Similarly, the one at Semantan now is Semantan 1. This helps them to identify the drives. The other 2 that are on site in KL are Semantan 2 and Inai 1.
Cochrane 1 on the right is digging the northbound tunnel (Towards Sungai Buloh). This one is also the lower tunnel at Pasar Rakyat and Bukit Bintang stations so will have to be dug first. Cochrane 2 on the left is digging the southbound tunnel (Towards Kajang) and will follow behind about 50m or so, with the upper tunnel.
Cochrane 1 and 2 also towards pasar rakyat... So ultimately towards sungai buloh.
Cochrane 3 will arrive at site by next week.
Correct, both are towards Sungei Buloh direction, but easier to visualise if its mentioned which bound is being bored.. Cochrane 1 is Sungei Buloh bound (northbound) and Cochrane 2 is Kajang bound (southbound).. Has Cochrane 3 arrived already..?
does anyone have architect picture for kota damansara station? i think that's the one where they stack 2 platform on top of each other, i cant seem to visualize it.
Where did you hear that it is stacked..? As far as I know, the only stacked stations are Bukit Bintang and Pasar Rakyat..
when i look at all the m&e drawing, it is the only elevated station with more than 1 platform.
Haha, I see.. More than one platform doesn't mean stacked.. From what I know, there is supposed to be a depot nearby.. Perhaps this is an extra track for ease of allowing trains to enter or exit the main line from the depot..
do this means kota damansara station will be the future exchange for mrt and mrt3 instead of sungai buloh?
Not very sure, but the media briefings have always shown Kota Damansara and Plaza Phoenix stations as interchanges.. Was told that the Sungei Buloh - Putrajaya line would pass through these stations..
