Easiest use mobile Odin flash lp5 kernel n modem. Than boot to recovery. wipe data n all caches flash midnote 3.2 zip

how long the batt can last?
if just using for email, call and sms..
now considering note or 7.7..
prefer longer batt usage..thanks guys..

Easily 2 days . 7.7 battery life is insanely better at least 2 times better

You CANNOT flash any GB kernels on any ICS rom - DON'T DO IT !!!
There is no 3rd party kernel available yet for ICS based roms

Do try it and tell us what happen. Most probably your phone cannot boot back only. It won't brick it. Can always go back to recovery flash back LP1 kernel than when boot back, use Mobile Odin flash LP5 kernel

Thanks Uncle Benny...I do clean installed to Stunner 4.5....everything is fine/smooth, but found wifi/4G is slower than Midnote?
I've compared to Midnote 3.1 vs Stunner 4.4/4.5....still prefer Midnote 3.1, but Facebook always get FCs...tried clear data but still FCs ......hopefully Midnote 3.2 fixed this problem..
*
I do not faced any issues with FB on stunner 4.3 to 4.5 though I did read several users has such an issue. this can be easily fixed by just replacing the 2 fonts at /system/fonts
Midnote 3.2 also no such FB issues

This is a TIP to those who wish to flash ICS roms
If you wish to restore back to another ICS rom :

1. You cannot restore it back from default recovery : do not even bother to try
2. Flash Abyss Kernel 3.9 and do not reset phone. At advanced select reboot recovery
3. Wipe data, cache partitions and dalvik cache and Select restore your previous ICS rom
4. Do not reset phone
5. Select install LP1 kernel , than only reboot phone
6. After reboot, you will lose full root
7. Download Superuser from Market
8. Launch Mobile Odin and flash kernel as LP5

You will get back your ex ICS rom BUT beware you no longer have full root. Full root means you cannot do any editing in system files using root explorer. All other apps that need root will work fine

This is what I have discovered after experimenting with the various ICS roms

If you want full root back, than use Mobile Odin flash the original Chinese leak again and restart your flashing of the ICS roms you need

For the ease of users you can download these kernels from my Box

LP1 kernel: ( flash from recovery mode ) : http://www.box.com/s/92c9318f8eec040220bb

LP5 kernel : ( falsh using Mobile Odin ) : http://www.box.com/s/b86a95cc56dd88b0d5b7

Abyss Kernel 3.9 : http://www.box.com/s/712d80acd6aa23b68667

Original Chinese ICS LP1 leak : http://www.mirorii.com/fichier/3/501208/I9...REPACK-tar.html

RESTORING back to Gingerbread rom

1. At recovery mode , flash Abyss Kernel 3.9
2. Do not reset phone . At advanced select reboot recovery
3. Wipe data, wipe cache partition and dalvik cache
4. Select restore and choose your backup GB rom to restore
5. After restore complete, select reset phone

Above tips now posted in my my BLOG

Quick question: I keyed in the screen test code, and the screen went blank. Couldn't even shut down, was forced to pop the battery out. Any idea why this happened?
*
Try again . If still happen , send in service center to check
Or are you on any cook rom as some roms disabled this ( check whether such is disabled at the relevant XDA thread )
It will definitely work on stock official roms

Uncle Benny. Thanks for the write up.

I have question though, currently on stunner I have cwm recovery.
If I make a backup with cwm, I can restore back with cwm right?

Another question.. On gb, I do a backup with cwm, can I use abyss 3.9 to restore back gb?
*
I already clearly said you cannot do a restore using the default CWM. You must use Abyss - you can try if you want - it will show restore system fail
Yes you must use abyss too to restore your GB rom
Please read again what I write - what you asked is already being answered. My written English is not that bad that one cannot understand it

Yes you can flash directly ; at least wipe cache partition and dalvik cache
Wipe data only if you find after flash many FC on apps, gmail, market issues etc

I strongly recommend that you do your Titanium Backup onto ext sd card instead of internal sdcard
Create a folder TitaniumBackup at your ext sdcard
launch TB. At menu/preferences /backup folder location : select detect whole device and select your folder in the ext sdcard as backup

If you just want to backup all your 3rd party apps APK : easiest use Astro File Manager and in Tools/Application backup.
And at Preferences select your ext sdcard as backup place ; if not it defaults ]backup into internal sdcard

Or you can use Rom Toolbox - you can backup all your system apps/data and 3rd party apps/data : again I suggest you choose ext sdcard as place to backup

Added on April 13, 2012, 11:21 amSome minor issues I am not too happy with Midnote 3.2. Connect to my MAC does not display the internal SDcard and ext SD card. I need to use Android File Transfer but dunno why this software unable to detect my Note.. So I have to use the app WiFi File Explorer to transfer files to n fro between my MAC and the Note. Stunner 4.3 to 4.5 rom however displays well both the internal Sdcard and ext Sdcard ( exactly similar as in GB roms )
If not for the S Pen functionality, I will still opt for Stunner v4.5 and it seems a ver 4.6 is coming up soon to rectify several issues which all of it I do not faced at all in v4.5 except for Gallery FC

thanks uncle benny..uncle where can i get play store apps and gmail installer since v22 fc my gmail apps..try to download from play store but cant install..
*
Download playstore from my box

http://www.box.com/s/c6026498b5cf72a844b8

use root explorer, browse to /system/apps - delete vending.apk and replace it with this apk

Gmail:

http://www.box.com/s/84985575d5d7e1d7dda9

try run the apk file - if cannot install, than copy it to /system/app and delete previous gmail apk

Actually if you have done a Titanium backup, you can easily restore these back. Browse to it , select clear data and restore it back

Benny, I saw you replied my post in XDA, just want to say thanks... also I have pressed the thanks meter wink.gif

Anyway, I should flash the LP5 kernel and modem first prior to flashing midnote 3.2, basically this skip the midnote 2.1 base and flashed straight to 3.2 correct?
*
No , you must install the 2.1 base rom
His instructions is very clear - flash this than follow by 3.2 zip
Read it again
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511841

If you are coming from other ICS roms, than possibly you can skip 2.1 base
