Prices: Just how much cheaper are they?
In all, there are three variants of the CKD Mazda CX-5 variants; a 2WD Mid-spec at RM136,943, a 2WD High-spec at RM144,125, and a 4WD High-spec that goes from RM154,385 (all prices are retail with insurance).
As expected though, there are a few telling omissions if one were to compare the CBU and the CKD versions. The first and most obvious is the lack of a sunroof, which is you ask me, is fine because in our hot climate. Secondly, the CKD version now comes with a 6-speaker ICE (in-car entertainment) system, as opposed to an 11-speaker BOSE surround system. Audiophiles (like myself) will notice the difference in sound quality, however, it is likely that a vast majority will not.
The mid-spec variant is missing a few bells and whistles compared to the high-spec variant; specifically, it does not come with leather seats, and uses Halogen headlamps, rather than Bi-xenon. It also does not have a Smart Key-less entry system, Day-time running lights, powered driver seat, and cruise control, which all come standard in the high-spec version.
