my ps3 bluray drive is dead a couple of months ago..i can turn on the ps3 but it wont accept any dvd, i found out that i need to replace the drive, but i really have no idea where to get the replacement..so guys any ideas?

Where is your location bro. If you are around PJ, can send to Heroes Tavern. They are probably one and only game shop in PJ who are honest and service oriented. I kena cheat or katuk by a lot of game shop in PJ and Bangsar already. Just my opinion. Below is their thread.

Did you test with music CD or normal DVD disc? if it can play music CD and normal DVD movie then most likely your bluray optical eye is dirty.

Last year i have the problem where my PS3 cant read any game disc, eventually i dismantle the bluray drive and clean the bluray eye with cotton bud and alcohol. After that it was back to normal.

Bro i got no idea why u want put dvd which can spoil ur ps3 lens. The whole drive device cannot be replace except the lens set itself can fix/replace.

so you mean BD Rom for ps3 almost similar to xbox360, where every dvd drive got their own signature to its main unit?

i found out that the whole drive is dead, but is there any way to check wether which parts is actually faulty? im wana buy a replacement, but that would cost a bomb as it is from oversea..

I have experience fixing my own bluray drive for my ps3 slim and it
only costs me about RM80 to buy the lens from eBay.

Usually the faulty part is the lens.
