a win is good but i think that was a rather poor performance by the team. if we get through against benfica, we will face barca in the semi and with this kind of performance, we will be punching bag for them.

somehow, we are back to the the old chelsea. very very VERY slow in moving the ball especially in first half. 2nd, our midfielders are at total lost. all source of invention came from our defenders and that is really sad to watch. 3rd, wtf is RDM thinking putting mikel + meireless at DM? this fetish towards DM is one of the factor that i think contribute to the inefficiency of our midfielders. why? because there is a gap between the front three (mata-torres-ramires) and the rest of the team. nobody was there to plug the gap and float the ball when the marking is tight upfront. the introduction of lampard is necessary but it was already late.

we are lucky to get away with full points in this match when we haven't done enough. thanks to torres for the lovely assist. he was lively whenever he got the ball. he provide good chances to team mates but as usual, he did not receive any supply of ammunition.

i think essien will get his playing chance for the 2nd leg. he did not play during our away trip at benifica and did not feature during the weekend. must have a lot of energy hehe mikel was superb this past few games. maybe can get some rest.

hm.. last week jose enrique became the stand-in goalkeeper after reina was red carded. who will be for our team if cech was red carded and JT did not play? i can only recall jt played at that position when cech and cudicini both out against reading few seasons back

IMO, the game last night is one of the dull-est game the team had ever play under rdm.

we are playing AT home, but we being pressured like we are playing at away games.
benifica is playing with 10 men half of the game but still rack up nearly 30 attempts. and if i remember correctly, aimar himself got 10 attempts on goal BEFORE half time.

why is this important? next we will face barcelona. so, substitute aimar with xavi+fabregas+busquet+iniesta. if we do not improve and content with our laid back strategy, for sure barca will rape us upside down!

no wonder stamford bridge is not the fortress anymore. the mentality and desire to make it as a fortress was non-existence. the penalty was rightfully awarded but i think it was against the run of play. benifica must be wondering why luck was not on their side. my MOTM will surely cech. others is rubbish.

i also agree that ramires's missed was epic. torres missed it from 3-4 meters from goal. ramires missed it not even 1m from goal. that sums up his day..

found this in lulztruck haha

for me, even though he is not scoring, he help his team mates to score. 12 assist in all competition is a lot and he is only behind Juan Mata (16). hopefully this is the essential building block for his confidence.

hm.. i think iva scored the goal from an offside position. the blue kit of our team seems to blend in very well with their blue stocking. and in real-time, the linesman might have mistaken it..

Added on April 7, 2012, 11:24 pmwow for torres, that is onside.. damn, the linesman is pretty bad >.<

like usual la this situation.. after all, we are going for 4th place. while soon-going to be champions are playing football for the whole 90 minutes, we are playing for the final 10 only.

Added on April 7, 2012, 11:50 pmdamn man..its torres again!

i think it all came down to 'decision making'. to shoot or to pass. i still remember the first season ronaldo was at man u, he just dribble blindly and then loose the ball while there are other option that he can choose besides dribbling. but, this guy learn fast and he manage to prioritize things that need to be done.

these are the thing sturridge need to learn. don't be like nani. imo, nani never learns and he keep making stupid decision. that is why he never steps into the gap that ronaldo left. strikers are meant to be greedy but sturridge need to balance it out. since this involve the way of thinking, only he can help himself to overcome the obstacle. another player that is good indecision making is messi. go into soccernet and see how many he scored and how many he assist. the assist he got is way more that xavi!

lol at chelsea.. this is befitting for a team targeting a fourth place. sometime play good.. sometime not. and everything want to settle in final 10 minutes. all gung-ho in that small space of time..

quite agree with the article but releasing so many player in one window is a no brainer. on malouda's part, it is totally correct.

as of the old spine of chelsea, i think they should start to understand that their time is already out. and they should start accepting the fact that the bench is the best place for them. give chance to the younger player to shine. all the old guard is already a legend in the club's history.

not sure what is the destiny for our club next season. now we are on 6th position and left only 5 games to play. hopefully we can make it to top 4 and if not, maybe europa league can be a blessed in disguise for us
