Hello guys..

I love cycling when I was young. With my rm700 mtb bike and few of my friends, we cycle everyday after school. I used to cycle at places such as back alley of houses, monsoon drains, rumah haram housing area & many other urban rotten roads.

Now I'm venturing back into this hobby with a little more extreme level. Given the experience I've been through when I was a kid, I would love to have similar trail like that.

1st journey I'm planing to cycle will be from my house reach bukit gasing and inside the jungle I'll be exiting from bangsar south.

I know most of the road over there can't really cycle much, need you guys to advice me on that part if any of you guys did cycle in the jungle.

Beside this, I plan to cycle to town from PJ during weekend to enjoy some early breakfast. Is it safe for me to cycle along the highway? I'll be cycling on the emergency lane or the bike lane?

Few times I've actually walk on the bike lane, I felt those bikers actually ride their bike pretty fast. I would actually need to move to the very very side of the path sometimes. By experience that, I don't think riding on the bike lane is safe. I might be wrong. Please advice me.

Btw, my partner cycling to town will be my gf. Other much more hardcore activity will be done by me solo.

Not safe.
Bike lane? Got bike lane in PJ? rolleyes.gif
*
got, along federal highway..there is a bike lane on the far left.

if i would to use sprint, then there isn't any bike lane. sometimes i do see people ride along sprint highway nearby pusat sains negara.

so there isn't any safe route to cycle from PJ to KL?

QUOTE(chyu89 @ Dec 5 2012, 08:40 AM)

you are cycling across roads meant for motorized vehicles...of coz its not safe with those fast traffic around... especially crossing junctions and such.... you can still cycle on road like many other do... but at your own risk la...

btw, cycling on road is not mountain biking!! here mainly are mountain bikers... we mainly ride inside jungles and have very little to do on road. and it is far safer in my opinion... fall down mean eat dirt... on road u grind on the tarmac at speed.

do check with the cycling group in the other cycling thread. they do more road riding across everywhere. they'll give u better advice
*
i know riding on the road ain't mountain biking. i'm cycling on road as well as jungle..look at my earlier post..i cycle on road is to accompany my gf to work out

Not sure if anyone in here have used Zesty before. But I think Lapierre in Malaysia is a bit expensive. Not value for money (my opinion la).
*
i got it at a good deal due to certain reasons. so i'm getting lapierre lo.

what are the other brand price range that comes with the following below?
- Fox 150mm CTD
- RP2
- SLX 10 speed group set

The issues you worried about normally won't happen. wear and tear, efficiency etc.

But with good colors, you won't regret, the only thing you worry is something with better colors in future.
*
you mean the meta am is good? i don't really like the blue..i actually fall in love the zesty 214 2013 model..it comes with red dash with white base.

also after looking most of the review on meta am, most of them are pretty satisfy on the bike performance but the only turn down is the placement of the rear sus.

as for zesty 214, 2013 model. most of them claim to be the best buy. not sure did "leper" paid them to say so or they really speak from their experience

what i'm saying is that... u asking about road route.. better ask with the road cycling fella. they will know the route better...

how good is the deal? hmn... hint hint...

Added on December 5, 2012, 5:32 pm

yeah... we bash the design for possible mud clad... but then it still a very cool bike.
you can still pampered and clean that area more often. meta does come with some sort of guard to reduce mud collecting around the shock area. go check it out... maybe it works for u...

Added on December 5, 2012, 5:34 pm

i think rare that local shop have those shim... u need to go hunt and ask one by one...

or u can order those online or ebay... should be cheap to ship in too
*
i would say below retail price lo..i don't feel comfortable to disclose the price here. people's rice bowl, feel bad form me to spit on it la..some more so many cycling kaki here..hahaha

i would actually plan to buy a bike that i don't really need to add any accessories if possible. the max i would add is just the headlights and rear lights for the moment. wait till i'm really getting the drive in me, then i'll slowly upgrade part by part

Added on December 5, 2012, 6:27 pmwow..after looking at the video at youtube at PCP and Kiara, it is surely something that i would like to test my balls..hahaha

just wondering, do we need to ride the bike up or carry?

hahah... all bike shop also like that..say give you special price and keep it urself..
same tactic to keep customer feel exclusive...  their margin on retail price is huge one.. u be surprise they knock 1-2k off or more smile.gif

anyway... buy the best you can afford... upgrade will eventually cost more.... there is one legend once said..poor man pay twice... smile.gif

lapierre a nice bike...very sleek looking... if can afford.. buy... need to see more lapieer...too many meta liao these days... too sharp color...blind our eye only

i believe i really get a good deal from that guy. he is not any normal shopkeeper i just randomly walk in and ask the price.

he somehow is my friend and we used to be close previously. just that i've lost contact with him for sometime and when i wanna buy bike only i go look for him tongue.gif

How to bring down weight of a all-mountain-ish 15 kg bike?

remove brakes, remove seat, use fix gears, lessen the spokes and strip down all the paint job from the bike.

will it works?

Added on December 6, 2012, 7:46 pmJust came back from specialize. The budget I have on hand can't match the spec I was offered. The spec that can matches what I was offered, the price is freaking expensive.

Any idea what is the price for meta am?

I visited KSH at tmn tun. The friendly guy named Lim served me. Very good service. He even asked me to take a test ride on meta am 2013 model.

Price he can offer me the best is rm8640. I think it is pretty harsh on my pocket. Well the new 2013 model got a small little "flap" to prevent mud keep on splattering on the rear sus. I pretty like the bike but the price stop me from getting it. I think the best offer I get really afford is 214 for now.

Also another thing about meta am I found out is that the front casset is only running on 2 gears? Is this casset sufficient or not? I know that most of us (mainly me) hardly use the front gears, but wouldn't it better to have 3 gears infront instead of 2?

It's called chain ring. Only the rear one they call it cassette.
Nowadays mostly 2 rings. 3 rings is old news dy... But some powerful riders ride 1 ring notworthy.gif
*
Oh. Okay. Chain ring. Hahahaha. The more rings they have it should be better for the person that cycle right? The only downside I see is the few hundred grams of extra weight.
