I always purchase an empty figure and separate accessories so I can make my own. Sometimes, I purchased old figures dating back around 1999-2001 and loot it for figures/accessories since most of em' are under RM150 (BBI ones are the best). BTW, making your own figure will allow you to save around RM120-RM180 out of RM300 (the average cost of these action figures). You'll need a good amount of knowledge about the Military if you wanna make one, unless you're going for a different theme. I'll post some pictures later.

As promised, here it is, pictures for some of the action figure collections I have. Almost all of the action figures in my collection are either made from separately purchased accessories, via purposefully 'looting' other figures or customizing existing ones. All three figures you saw here are self-made. Originally, I wrote a crappy intro for this post about some fictional SAS room entry as well as a couple of extensive info, but for no logical explanation at all, when I press 'Add Reply', I was suddenly logged off. When I press the 'Back' button to salvage my post, nothing happened. There goes 45 minutes of my life and perhaps another 10-15 minutes retyping and reuploading all this. (T_T)

Feel free to ask me about anything you see here (except the last image happy.gif;; ).

The operative on the left wears heavy protection while the other on the right wears the standard gear of the SAS. Weapons are that of the H&K MP5A5 with laser pointer to assist aiming in 50m or less and dual mag clips to increase reload speed during a heated firefight. Respirators are Avon SF-12, with the other having anti-flash eyepiece.

Handgun is obviously that of H&K Mk. 23, used by Navy SEALS and various western Special Forces.

The M4 Carbine you see on this picture is the SOPMOD version, manufactured by Knight's Armament Company. In the SOPMOD version, the standard carrying handle has been replaced with a Picantiny Rail for easier scope mounting (scope in picture is a Trijicon 3.5x), while the plastic grip covering the rifle's barrel can be removed to accomodate various accessories from infrared/nightvision sight to a handgrip.

Another close-up of the Knight's M4 SOPMOD, this time with the silencer in view. Also in the picture:
'drop-down' handgun holster, kneepads, stun grenade.

This is a 1/1 scale living, breathing, eating, shitting, porn downloading...

Oh, you'll need a license if you wanna equip him with 1/1 scale firearms. Choices are limited to only handguns and shotguns for this country. Additional cost of food and shelter not included.

opps...those gas masks are not from BBi right?

Nope. The respirators are from Dragon Models. A lot of my action figures are a mix of Dragon Models or BBI, and a little bit of 21st Century Toys. The quality of the latter is horrible, so I would usually take only the clothings and headgear from 21st Century stuff.

Its an ACOG scope? Oh man, I fail Google Image Search.
*Self-destructs*

I'm always experiencing problems trying to differentiate between ACOG and Trijicon. They always look somewhat similar, but I guess if it's not mounted on the carrying handle, then it's an ACOG.

ACOG scope.

Trijicon scope. Hmm, it has 'ACOG' written on it. Same makers, or is a Trijicon simply a different variant of ACOG?

BBI Delta Force 1st SFOD DELTA "Striker", customized with plenty of additional accessories and other additional parts. I like to call it 'Overload Custom', since I attached/equipped him with as much accessories as possible until there is no more space left. Note the shotshells on his magazine pouch and biggrin.gif cigar.

Closeup view of the M4A1 Carbine, attached with an AIMPOINT and another unidentified scope plus a Remington M870 shotgun attached. The purpose of the shotgun isn't entirely for delivering heavy stopping power at close ranges, but also for situations in which both hostile individuals and civillians engaged in civil disobidience were involved. The attached M870 is especially useful for opening doors, using special 'Masterkey' buckshot rounds.

H&K Mk. 23 SOCOM, an offensive combat pistol favoured by various US Special Forces as well as others abroad.

Water canteens, survival knife, radio pouch as well as other additional pouches. Since Pro-Tec helmets normally used by SEALs and Deltas are not bulletproof, I figured that he might find that helmet in handy when things went from bad to worse. laugh.gif

Additional magazine pouches strapped on his left.

Guns don't kill people, its cancer that kills people! One of the many use I found with BBI's custom expression mechanism. What is missing now is making him do the 'invisible sandwich' pose.

BTW, I ordered a bunch of stuff related to 1/6 scale action figures from XL Shop and blogged about it at my blog in A Huge Gaping Internet. Check it if you're interested.

i really missed those gulf war cammo. too bad that mordern desert camo is those plain shades of brown patches. Ofcourse, that's before ACU and MAPART was introduced.

Thanks. smile.gif

Those old 'chocolate chip' camouflage are now available in surplus, issued to the New Iraqi Army as well as the New Iraqi Police. Now I want to find additional action figures with middle-eastern faces and another 'chocolate chip' camo BDU, standard-issued dust goggles, tan boots and vests compatible with banana clips so I can create soldiers of NIA. I already have helmets and AKs.

Once I received a 2nd hand digital camera from my dad and having some extra time, I was thinking of opening a site about my collection.

Playing around with lighting effects ala Doom 3, using 1/6 scale action figures. Some of the images were blurred on purpose in order to achieve the right effect.

I was having too much fun with the new digital camera I got, so I went a bit overboard 'playing' Doom 3. xD

I didn't bother to read the camera's manual then. So yes, after reading up on the subject of the best settings for taking closeups, it immediately chopped my boner in ten cuts. Nonetheless, I learn a great deal of lesson from this photoshoot and hopefully my next attempt at 'producing' Doom 3 effects won't suck.

Anyway, with a digital camera in my possession, I redid the photoshoot for the Delta Force "Striker" Overload Custom as seen in my blog. I posted it in the One Sixth Warrior Forum. Check it out. The pics are also posted in the Xl-Shop forum.

Yeah, this hobby really sucks a lot of dough from your pocket. I too have problems trying to balance out the amount of cash I need to save for other things, like 1/1 scale gears and computer parts for future rig. RM300 worth of spending a month is still considered 'not hardcore enough'.

And Wifi, I'm still frickin' jealous of your P90. >:(

SWEET! My earliest and latest kitbash: SAS Operative Version 1 (middle 2004) and Version 2 (recently just last week).

Version 1:
user posted image
user posted imageuser posted imageuser posted image
The first SAS version was made before I had any knowledge of ordering/buying things online, so the parts available to me for this early kitbash of mine were extremely limited. Thus, I was able to achieve very miniscule results in terms of kitbash details and quality. Nonetheless, being one of my first, I'd say it ain't such a bad start.

Version 2:
user posted image
user posted imageuser posted imageuser posted imageuser posted image
Compared to Version 1, Version 2 had shown just how much I had matured in this hobby, and, now that I have the knowledge of getting the best stuff online, plus the ever-increasing qualities of 1/6 items and accessories, I was able to do something that I couldn't imagine doing two years ago.

whow.. sweet stuff hangmen.
btw, isn't it over kill to have a shotgun and a sledge hammer at one's back? i think that that fella can handle well without the sledge hammer since the shotgun itself is a 'universal key' brows.gif
*
Nah, it ain't overkill to have both of those in his back. The shotgun itself can run out of ammo; a sledgehammer doesn't. It's more efficient (and cost-effective) to use a blunt object to open doors and windows unless rapid entry is required. During the infamous 1980 Operation Nimrod, The Iranian embassy was outfitted with bulletproof glass and, bulletproof or not, the sledgehammer could simply smash through it. I'd imagine that shotshells would have a hard time trying to penetrate through as they are easily stopped by the bulletproof glass. Another plus point for the sledgehammer: it allows you to pretend yourself as a Space Marine Force Commander! tongue.gif

"Faith and duty!" laugh.gif

Right now, I'm trying to gather enough money for my next kitbash/project. I'll probably do either:
a) Buy another figure and similar gears as the SAS operative but with a slightly different configuration (a Class IV SAS/SDU vest maybe). That dude really needs an assault buddy. I need some G36Cs for this too.
b) Finish my US Army Ranger kitbash. He needs just a few more things to complete him. Or...
c) Consider upgrading my old BBI GSG-9 figure with new parts.

It's true what Sniper on the Roof said about this hobby: it's really sucking your pocket dry every month!

hangmen, who do you have to kill to get that AUG!?!?!
blardy hell, i can never find one here.

Unfortunately, it ain't such a good-looking AUG. It came from 21st Century Toys Delta Force CQB (my first 12" action figure). I know the pairing of foreign weapon with US SpecOps seems odd, but I do know that as with any SpecOps in the world, they're trained to use foreign weapons. Also, the AUG is used by US coastguards (surprise) due to its reliability.

I too bought VH stuff (VH SDU Breacher) to do some fancy kitbashing on my SAS figure seen a few pages ago. Lucky that you're able to find a place to buy VH much cheaply. As for me, the only place I know where I can get VH is via ordering from Singapore. That cost me RM300!

Nonetheless, everything is same as what you said:
- Inferior quality compared to Hot Toys/Dragon/other superior 1/6 brands.
- Stubs that are easily broken/already broken! D:<
- Vest is actually quite good. Just cut off the excess threads. Nothing wrong with my VH SDU velcros though. Sticks hard.

For kitbashers like us, VH actually ain't so bad. You got tons of stuff at a slightly lesser price range (HT tend to start around RM380~RM420) than HT at the sacrifice of quality. But still, most of the stuff looks good and passable enough. As if you need authentic engraving for something small you won't care about the microdetails. At least you got tons of loose items to make profit out of.

For 1/6 gunsmiths, the relatively inferior 1/6 firearms (LOL my VH MP5 looks mirrored) which came with VH is a great way to start experimenting on making 1/6 custom guns. Also, if you do get a 1/6 action figure when buying a VH (like the VH SDU series), throw it away ASAP before your eyeballs gets fuxxored by its horrible quality!

Hay guys, I received the World Weapon Collection yesterday (very fast!). It happened to be the last one. Like Rusty, I got one extra P90 and another FAMAS (no MG42 ;_; ), but fcuk that, a P-FCUKIN'-90 AT LAST! I'll probably blog about it on the weekends.

PS: as for the taste of the cheapo candy that came along with it:

someone has been longing for the P90. i wonder why he likes it so much biggrin.gif
*
- Wielded by a killer lolita assassin.
- Appeared in several favourite videogames.
- Ergonomic-wise, a comfortable weapon to carry and shoulder.
- Ultra-simple, oil free field stripping and maintainance.
- FN Herstal's 5.7 x 28mm aka SS190 calibre: armor-piercing rounds that doesn't overpenetrate; 'tumbles' inside its target for better stopping power. H&K's 4.6 x 30mm penetrates better with lesser recoil, but tend to overpenetrate with less stopping power.

It's obvious who's the P90 fanboy here.

I already said it (indirectly) in my previous post: it's an MG42. You can go to the XL-Shop forum for pictures. The chances of receiving the secret gun is random.

I'm gonna upgrade my existing figure. Going for a SAS 2.5: changes in the primary firearm (now a P90) and the holster from a Very Hot to a bona fide Hot Toys SAS/SDU holster. I haven't deposited my pay to Action Figure 2002 for the holster and other accessories, so I'm gonna have to wait a bit since there's no time to do any kind of payment deposit right now (traffic is bloody in my place). I asked the seller to hold on to my requested items.
