Before I post my TS ACU Special Forces figure, here's what I did with the rather disappointing DID XM8: give it a brand new paintjob.
Procedure:

1. The DID XM8: one of the greatest disappointment in my armory is about to be given a winning makeover. The rifle was first disassembled.

2. Seamlines on the rifle was sanded down using modeling sand paper. White putty is applied to 'ugly spots' on what was used to be jagged edges that was removed using a plastic cutter.

3. For painting the rifle, here's a list of acrylic paints used for the paintjob:
Gunze Sangyo Hobby ColorH2 Black - for the XM8's built-in scope.
H78 Olive Drab 2 - Rifle body.
H83 Dark Grey 2 - Magazine.
H346 Rough Sand - Weathering.
Tamiya ColorXF-69 NATO Black - Rifle body.
I know the color choice of OD over Tan might seem odd, considering that Tan is a far more recognizable 'trademark' color of the XM8. It's just my personal opinion that coloring the XM8 with Tan makes it look like a watergun made for grownups, and green is my favourite color.

And the finished product... (gimme a few minutes, will upload to next post)
