But if his area only UMTS900 and his phone has that, then his modem won't be able to latch on to the signal.

Yes, I think it comes from the modem's limitation. smile.gif
If I'm not mistaken, my area is UMTS900 dominant.
But never mind, my modem is dual band, I can easily hook on the network. biggrin.gif

Both are good bands, some areas perform better in UMTS900, some UMTS2100.
You just have to know which one is the better one for you. So, best bet... Get a dual band modem. smile.gif

Good idea, so, any recommendation for a "not so expensive/economical" deal band modem?

Mine is a used unit la.
Even a normal dual band modem, you can get it below RM 150 or RM 120. smile.gif

Thanks for the fast reply. Let me consider thoroughly again.
You know I'm a cheapksate person, to me one modem is sufficient. tongue.gif
If only I can try out and see how does it perform in my area. laugh.gif

Which modem should I go? MiFi or 42Mbps modem? Do you guys know the exact model of the modem?

Company is paying for my broadband, so I'll need to register one under my name. Thinking to go for this and let my sister use it back in hometown while I continue with my Maxis.

The MiFi and modems are ZTE

MF680 for the stick
MF60 for the mifi

Added on March 27, 2012, 5:16 pmBtw fruitie, if company is paying for your broadband, then you should just register maxis the 6gb or 12gb one smile.gif

The modem given is either 173u-2 or 1762, the wifi HSPA modem is crap though, old model.

Probably better to just get the free modem and stick it in a 3G router, either 3020 or 3420. TPlink.
