QUOTE(frodo baggin @ Jul 9 2013, 05:32 PM) Actually the gap is not that big - look at the ACCA syllabus mapping, there is a flow of knowledge. The gap is actually in the manner in which you are asked to answer the questions - more critical and applied as opposed to pure memory only (except for P6 Malaysia ~ which is still very memory orientated) P1 is has some overlap with F8, so there is very little stress there. P2 has some 70% of F7 in it. P3 has some aspects of CAT T5 and F5, F7 and F9 There you have nothing to worry about in terms of preparing for the papers. If you want to prepare a head for this level - you can always start reading the technical articles in each paper section. Those are usually self contained and if you can understand it - you are good to go. Best preparation is to read all the examiner reports for each paper and understand the common reason for failure. Then when you start the classes - try to focus on solving that issue. QUOTE(donizback @ Jul 9 2013, 09:45 PM) Just take classes regularly, do past papers from the very 1st month, and do ask a lot of questions in the class which i reckon none of other Malaysians do Counting down 2 weeks before my classes begin, i already printed out pass year questions, and technical articles, hopefully i can nail down these 3 papers together internally and externally, fyi i am a tarcian, which just resited my F9 paper (super fail) haihIts not a problem until you study from the very first day and best of luck for you P papers thanks for all the replies |

QUOTE(starz92 @ Jul 10 2013, 09:23 PM) chia wen from penang right? xD i think i know you. hello, say hi to me next time when u saw me... are u from tarc as well? btw, i am from kayelle, but i love penang especially penang foods. I assume you will take P1, P2 and P3 this coming sitting? One of my advice would be don't over-stress yourself. As hard as it may seem, P's level papers require good understanding of the subject matter and think outside the box. For P1, try to understand the origin of a particular law/governance/best practice etc. Instead of purely memorising all the standard, try to understand what causes such law to exist. There will usually be a real life issue occurred that causes a particular law to be formed thus countering such problem. This way of studying P1 would be better than the hard memorising way. (Unless you are the one that prefer to do all the heavy memory work) For P2, do as much past year as possible. As you are aware, group consolidation will constitute a 50 marks question in P2. However, i would advice you not to over focus all your attention to consolidation. Theory question is equally important here. Try to familiarize yourself with the technique to answer those theory questions as they are really life saver . haha For P3, being a purely case studies papers, studying the whole text book won't even ensure a pass. You will have to look through the past year questions and understand the way the question is asked. Other than that, you must have the mentality that what you studied might NOT actually come out in exam and be prepared to tackle the questions on an ad hoc basis using all the knowledge(model, theory etc) you learned in the paper. Just my 2 cents. Good luck on 8/8 thank you for your advice, hopefully i can mitigate them one by one! |
