I see many of them
once say ACCA
their face will turn scary

I'm just using that as a metaphor. It is not as hard as some people think it is but i gotta agree most of the people say it is hard.

At least you get to be in an exclusive club of (i think) 200k members worldwide.Just don't give up half way as it is very painful smile.gif

Hi guys,

I'm 30 this year. Haven't been study for so long. Am interested in ACCA. Not sure if I'm too late to study and work as an accountant.

Do you guys think 30 is too old to study ACCA and get a job (since they would prefer fresh graduate that are youngster) ?

Cheers.
*
Why not?I have seen people with family and kids doing ACCA as well.Never too late to do it.

ACCA can be quite tough so be prepared mentally to tackle it.Make sure you do have genuine interest before committing smile.gif

What i wonder was if they penalize for calculation mistakes? I think I'll make calculation mistakes under exam time constraint and therefore not getting the balance sheet balanced.
*
My best advice for F7 is to finish all questions. The mistakes and sofp not balancing is not a huge issue.Just take note of the time and move on.

Finger crossed...:-)

Agree.I just can't seem to finish all 4 questions.Question 2 is really the killer.

Anyways hope i pass this round and good luck to all others biggrin.gif

How's P7 everyone? The paper generally was okay for me, and I have to agree Q2 is the time consuming one. Because of that I left it till the last hour to complete that.

To the rest, good luck! Remember (especially) P papers is a race against time. Knowledge alone is inadequate if you can't write it all down within 3 hours. Therefore I usually follow this strategy (step by step) :

i) Focus on answering all the questions - This will mean allocating a strict time span for each question. Question 1 40 marks? I give myself 1 hour for the initial answering. Once you breach the allocated time move on to the next question.

ii) Gain the easy marks - My lecturer used to say that a passing quality paper only needs an hour to complete, where else no student, even those who knows everything in and out about the subject will be able to produce a 100 marks answer within the allocated time frame. Therefore, if you find yourself struggling with a question, hop on to the next one. Gain the 'easy' marks first.

Once you completed the above step, then you move back to the question in which you were having difficulties or did not had the time to complete earlier.
Once again, good luck!

Easier said than done in a sense that in the exam you are not thinking straight.Just keep it in mind and it will be fine.

Yea i think i'm gonna lose some marks on Q2 as the second part of the email can be very tricky and time consuming.Probably lost some marks there for me.

Even so,as usual cannot finish all four questions sad.gif

Hi Yee, I'm part timer too...I'm planning to self study also but not too sure what material to use..
Usually what material you used for studies? Are you depend on the ACCA past year question?  hmm.gif
*
Not trying to pour cold water or anything but i feel that ACCA is a very specialised exam and attending classes would help greatly in helping you pass.Learning exam techniques and key focused topics should work hand in hand with self study.Paying a few hunderd ringgit(depends on where you study)is definitely worth it.

Most of the time you would still be self studying anyways so where not just take that extra step to make life easier smile.gif

Finally, I've decided to prepare my OBU degree project after I passed the fundamental level 2 years ago, can anyone help or give some suggestions? I planned to do it on my own. It will be much appreciated if you can email me your sample.
Better to get a mentor to help out so that the chances of getting it done is higher. You'll be doing most of the work anyways so i don't see any issues with it.

Hey guys, i am going to take P1 & P2 this semester at KSA. I just want to ask anyone got any comment on these lecturers?

P1 - Parmindar Singh
P2 - Spencer Cheah

I just completed the registration of exemption for all F paper, now just starting to take part time classes. KSA got discount policy, for 1st-timer study here, the 2nd subject will be FOC. I was planning to take only P2 but after KSA told me the discount policy so i am considering to take P1 too.
*
Parmindar's class usually is very packed so do take note of that.No idea about spencer.

Owh thanks a lot for the info.

I think i'll go register today, not sure still available or not since the class will start on this Sunday, don't know Parmindar's class was so famous. sad.gif

Regarding the Spencer, my friends say that Spencer also quite a famous lecturer. So i think i'll just take Spencer instead of Joe Fang for P2.

Btw i owing ACCA 459 pound now, including the annual subscription fee & exemption fees. Is it possible to pay the fees after the stated due date? Because i really not afford to pay it by my salary unless i make a loan from family which i not really wish to do so. If really can't pay after the stated due date then i'll only make loan from my family.
*
Better to take family loan and pay it off then slowly return back. The due date is only a soft dateline but still better to make payment promptly.

Darn i haven't pay mine yet tongue.gif
