* Audiophile Grade Internal Components for the Ultimate in Sound Quality
* 28-Bit Binary Floating-Point DSP and 3-Way Digital Network
* 3 Hi-Volt RCA Preouts (5V)

AUDIOPHILE GRADE

The DEH-80PRS CD receiver features audiophile grade internal components and materials that are carefully selected to achieve Pioneer's highest standards for the ultimate in sound quality. Pioneer’s exclusive sound field technologies including Auto EQ and Auto Time Alignment help optimize audio in ways that perfectly suit particular listening spaces and allow subtle manual control of settings. Versatile connectivity helps deliver exceptional sound quality from various digital devices.

Burr-Brown® 24-bit D/A Converters: Three Burr-Brown digital to analog converters are used - one each for the high, mid, and low frequency ranges - providing exceptional linear sound reproduction with wide dynamic range and faithful reproduction of the original source

Four-Layer Circuit Board Design: Utilizing a four layer copper foil board with components mounted to both sides of the board allows for a circuit board with a much smaller footprint. The inside layers of the circuit board are dedicated to the power and ground supply traces, which allow for lower overall circuit impedance and greatly reduce noise.

Full-Custom High-Capacitance Power Supply Capacitor: Custom-built capacitors in the power supply keep sound clear and consistent. Exclusive parts are developed and tuned for optimal sound quality through a thorough review of materials and repeated listening trials.

Sound Master Clock Circuitry: Timing is everything. Our new Sound Master Clock generates waveforms that read and process digital signals with extraordinary precision - eliminating jitter. Finely detailed signals can be accurately reproduced as they were intended.

28-bit Binary Floating-Point DSP: Handling a wider range of complicated calculations than a standard fixed-point DSP, Pioneer's 28-bit binary floating-point DSP along with the use of advanced programming technology allows for highly precise sound processing and tuning without degrading the source's digital signal.

3-Way Digital Network: The DEH-80PRS features a 3-Way Digital Network, connecting (via three 5V RCA preouts) up to three external amplifiers, each dedicated to driving high-, mid- and low-frequency ranges, respectively. The result: more distinct separation of the three frequency ranges, for more full, natural sound realizing more of each speaker’s potential in a multi-speaker system.

L/R Independent 16-Band Digital Equalizer: The L/R Independent 16-Band Digital Equalizer is excellent at overcoming in-vehicle frequency response peaks and troughs. With fine tuning adjustments at 2/3 octave steps, tailoring the frequency curves to generate a flat response is possible in any type of car.

Auto Time Alignment and Auto EQ: Time alignment automatically estimates the delay from each speaker to the driver’s position and adjusts speaker sound output timing, so that sound from all speakers reaches the driver’s ears in perfect sync. Auto EQ tailors specific musical characteristics according to preference, uses a microphone to monitor and analyze acoustics, then automatically fine-tunes all frequency bandwidths and front and rear speaker digital parametric equalization. These processes occur in 399 seamless steps in just about 6 minutes and 30 seconds.

Time Alignment: Not only can this function precisely adjust each speaker’s output timing according to its distance from the listening position – it is also adaptable to a 3-way multi-amplifier and speaker system.

HANDS-FREE CALLING AND AUDIO STREAMING

Stay safe and obey local hands-free laws with built-in Bluetooth® (HFP). With Secure Simple Pairing, you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the DEH-80PRS without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. When a registered Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units.

If you have a compatible audio player device that also features built-in Bluetooth, you have the ability to wirelessly stream (A2DP) and control audio (AVRCP) to the receiver.

USB DIRECT CONTROL FOR iPOD®/iPHONE®

Pioneer's DEH-80PRS is ready to roll with direct connectivity to your iPod or iPhone for audio playback via the optional USB interface cable (CD-IU51 interface cable sold separately). Song, artist, time and album information are displayed on the full dot LCD display. Powerful tools such as Link Play and Alphabet Search to help you find content faster. The system's wired USB connection provides direct digital signal transfer from the device for clean, clear sound while providing 1 amp of current to keep your iPod/iPhone charged.

Dual rear USB ports allow connection of 2 compatible USB devices so you will never run out of source options. For example, you can connect an iPod to USB1 and a compatible USB hard disk drive to USB2.

CUSTOMIZE IT
Match the display and key illumination to your vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination in any car. The key illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations.

Agreed mate....

As far as I know even the USED P80RSII is going for in the range of $300-$400 (SGD ok!!!!).... doh.gif

So if there's at all the D80PRS lurking around for the price that you mentioned Prince - I'll be in the same boat as Howie as well.

but wouldnt having a decent HU and a proc be more expensive?

though if you're having stock HU (for whatever purpose, such as maintaining steering remote controls and what not), i guess thats the best option to do it?

701 brand new price is much higher if u compare....unless compare a used few years 701 with a p80, then it's consider giving more tuning options...smile.gif

I prefer HU build in DSP ,less work to be done..and u can just plug in speaker without using amps.

for proc use ,u need amps (for some proc that don have high output)and fan (if you conceal them in box)and extra fuses (as per EMMA regulation) to keep cool and protected the proc...a lot of RCA cable...installation will cost more..

just my 2 cents

next EMMA will be in penang
second round in johor
final Keyel
see you there...

Garage section got people selling, I saw 3 person selling it. Around RM900 only, so you might want to try your luck with them.

This one I would say offer more options to the driver. Since now most drivers like to use SD card la, iPod lar, iPhone lar, USB drive lar....etc lar.

This one comes with build in 16 band EQ, guess this is indeed a very tempting HU. I believe this HU will be able to last you very long, comparing to those lower range model.

And I audit it already, Kekekekekeekke..... laugh.gif

Yes, I noticed all sold. Couple of months back I saw around 4 units still available....

Anyway, I think the price is ok lar... I bought P80RSII almost the price of what P80PRS is selling now, back when P80RSII already out for 1 year plus.

No BT? Are you sure yours is the real thing??

Did you ask your installer when you buy the HU from him? Or did you explain your preference to him when you made the decision to purchase?

But using 80PRS for BT streaming, don't you think that it is .... errrr......a bit "waste". Well, different owners have different preference.

Aux it pretty "wasted" if you ask me.

USB/sdcard playing with wav format should be much better. Digital format still, no quality lose.

Using it, PRS-80 so far so good, tough build quality.

.wav can play max 44.1khz , 16 bits (CD quality)
cant play flac

But able to play any CD format HDCD no problem

I can say it customize like hell, damn lots of option

To me data retrieval better with SDCard but maybe it's also due to the usb cable I use it's the one came with the HU and I never got chance to compare with better usb stick only normal one. Using those weather proof hi speed SDCard gold plated type that photographer use.
Anyway that my opinion only and I play flac using iphone and that the best sound quality so far. Too bad the HU don't support flac.

Yeah, a good cd always good but in a car prone to vibration you cannot get the best out of it. Put a good cd on a good home hifi system and then you know how good it can sound.

car cd are preloaded into memore nowadays...it's just that the cd player are not as highend as home use cd player....car audio focus on tuning flexibility rather than invest all money into building the lens and dac....

just slightly different than CD...you can simply google and look for those hardcore ppl at oversea their testing results..
example: http://www.stereophile.com/features/308mp3cd icon_rolleyes.gif

the reason why you can hear some different is most likely bcoz your converter setting problem, bcoz some of the converter already preset with some kind of noisy reduction or enhancement, you have to disable all that and make sure is lossless converting...
the best one is using foobar but you must installed the latest FLAC decoder version in order for you the get the highest quality of FLAC format... laugh.gif

beside some CD having HD-CD SACD those only can be play by supported device which is HIFI level of audiophile player, most the car dont support except old school player like machitosh or clarion D2 series etc etc...and yes for those CD is better than FLAC a lot(if your player able to playback such format of disc) brows.gif

This is my take on this...... media....
CD - Vibration is the main issue even with memory as car moving sure will have vibration and noise injected from engine and others.
USB input - Less vibration, but using cable (unless high end usb cable) there is interference (EMI/EFI) to deal with unless plug in direct but troublesome as the usb input at the back not the front plate....
SDCard - convenient as in front. Also no cable as direct plug in. With a good SDCard less worry of data loss.

Also, Car enviroment need to rely on processing such as time alignment and others. Not that easy to adjust sweet spot as listening position are fixed and speaker position are fixed and cannot simple move around like home enviroment.

What I did to test that time was I took a CD and I ripped and put it into a 2 GB USB stick and also a 2 GB SDCard. Slot all into the HU, CD into CD slot, SDCard into SD slot and the USB into USB cable. Found I like the SD Slot the best so decided to use it as the main source.
