QUOTE(nolimitz @ Aug 20 2013, 08:03 PM)
Hi. Im using Umobile broadband M128 HSPA+ plan which is theoretically capable up to 42mbps, in Senai, Johor. Signal here is acceptable.
My speedtest result : ping 80 to 200ms, DL 1-3mbps, UL ~0.5mbps with the provided ZTE 7.2 mbps USB dongle modem.

For me, the thing i am concerned is to get relatively more stable ping/ latency as i am getting the ping fluctuation while playing games (specifically Dota 2), ranging 120ms to 3000+ms, which really frustrates me a lot!  (As my housing area does not have wired internet - Unifi or Streamyx service!!!)

Can you give me your recommendation (which modem with/ without antenna) which can solve my problem.
I mainly use it in home and mostly 24/7, thus I wont carry the modem around.
Budget RM 300-400

Thanks in advance.
*
Hi there

We would recommend you Huawei B683 28.8Mbps HSPA+ unit according to your budget allocation.
RM400 with 6 months warranty or RM450 with 1 year warranty.

Link: http://andrewsestore.com/store/huawei-b683...router-new.html

You may attach an external antenna later on if you feel it is necessary.

As for the PING/LATENCY improvement, it entirely depends on the network infrastructure at your area.
Proper positioning of your devices may improve the results too.

However the recommended unit should provide better results comparing to your ZTE MF190 and usage for 24/7.

Hope that helps.

i just saw it. thx for ur reply.
which antenna is the best for this model? or all are the same?
*
Hi,

For Huawei B683, you will need an antenna with SMA-male connector.

We have

a) OMNI 10dBi @ RM100
b) Yagi 12 dBi @ RM100
c) Panel 15dBi @ RM120

Panel and Yagi Antennas are mono-directional, which maximizes transmission distances.
Commonly used outdoor for direction finding, remote communication.
It is used to point at the nearest cell tower if your entire area is affected by low or poor reception/signal.
This will improve speed, reception, signal and stability.

Omni Antenna is multi-directional with 360 ° radiation.
Being multi-directional, it is also suitable for use as a repeater or for a network base station too.
Commonly used for covering range in near distance.
It is also used to prevent blockages where your area is with good coverage but due to blockage you're facing low signal or reception.

Hi there, all modem support DDNS?
*
Hi there

Yes, all Wireless Gateway do support DDNS provided with the right firmware upgraded on the unit.

However, the firmware won't be the original Huawei one, it may belong to another network provider.

Therefore, do let us know which unit you prefer, so that we can check the firmware availability for you.

Hi there

B970B is an older model which only supports Wi-Fi b/g

B660 is a newer model which supports Wi-Fi b/g/n

It comes with built-in internal antenna and it is also equipped with external antenna slot too.

Thankyou for your clear explanation of my choices.

i need the original Huawei set with warranty by Huawei Malaysia , 1 year is it ?

I am planning to use with maxis biz68 sim, will it work ?

Can i come to your shop to test first before pay and collect ?
*
Hi there

We handle the warranty directly since we are parallel importers from Huawei of several countries.

Huawei Malaysia does not supply these models.

RM400 with 6 months warranty or RM450 with 1 year warranty.

Yes, it will work with your Maxis Biz68 SIM.

Sure, you can drop by and test prior to purchase.

As soon our stocks are in, we shall notify you via PM and you can drop by.
