To all the seniors

Where can i buy SAL16105 at a better price in lowyat or BB plaza SG Wang? I need Malaysia set.

Saw it at lelong.com.my for 1690

by the way, any comment on this lens or any other similar choice to recommend?
*
For 1690, you can go to Studio Zaloon. Try asking in key color midvalley. Remember to look for their lady boss. Their staff hopeless. They quote RM200 more last time. The competitors for this lens are the tamron17-50, 16-80cz & the 16-50SSM if you have high budget.

To all who replied : if I use spot metering or uping the compensation, then the background will be overexposed.. how those wildlife photographers take a nicely exposed bird and a nicely exposed background and the same time? thats my question.

Personally on the a77 it's pretty decent for a budget walkaround lens. Focusing under low light seems pretty decent on the wide end but at the tele-end the lens will hunt. What I am more impressed is how the SAM focusing engine now seems much quieter than the previous SAM lenses. IQ is acceptable but i didnt really manage to test the best out of it.

How is it compared to the SAL16105?

Anyone knows where I can get Sony 50mm F1.8 for about RM 450- 500? Around KL area.

Whoa whoa chill. 50/1.8 is a cheap lens. You can get 2nd hand with warranty like new around 300-350 nowadays.

Guys, have anyone used benro a350ex / a550ex w/ BH-1 tripod? How is it? Also, anyone knows what it means when I say the ball head can take up to 6kg load, yet the tripod can take up to 4kg. So can it take 4 or 6 kg? if tripod 4kg but ball head 2kg? then 2 or 4kg? Manfrottos are wayyy too expensive for me. I baru form 5 student. Not working. sad.gif

Edit - I found Jusino AX254 w/ BT-02. My gears are max max 3kg. A 4kg one should work well for me? Jusino claims they can carry up to 15kg. Idk who needs it. rclxub.gif

Newbie. Load bearing is individual of the components. You can't add them up and say a tripod of load bearing capacity of 6kg and ball head of 5kg measles the system able to support 11kg gears. Meaning the entire system can support max 5kg also, coz thats the max the head can support. 15kg systems who say don't have. Video systems can easily reach those weights. Tripods are not only meant for dslrs, open up your mind to the bigger picture. Dslrs are tiny gears compared to industrial systems.
*
Oh. Didn't think of videography. biggrin.gif Then why would someone want a stronger ball head with a weaker tripod. rclxub.gif

QUOTE(ieR @ Jun 20 2012, 01:46 AM)
tiewgine8039: yes, CPL are rotate-able filter, even the lens rotate during focus, u still can hold the CPL filter to stop it from turning(stays in the same position). when u buy it, u will understand smile.gif

and 30mm macro, as a standard lens, why not? a lens choice, is a CHOICE, so, do what you wan, u can even have a 135prime as walkaround. i know my friend with A77 is with 500F8 like, 99% of the time, with average of 50 pic daily. oh, he is a bird shooter tongue.gif so thats his walkaround lens... (seriously he walks around with 500 attached fulltime)

Newbieeeeee: watch out for benrohead with BH-XX. those are lowest end head, which in my opinion, suit for ppl with no budget. if u can save a little more, grab B-XX heads (without the H).
low budget, just ignore the 'whatever limit' its just a guideline for marketing people. but dont expect a rm300 tripod will able to stand solid in windy condition period.

the jusino recently (i think) is having promo on one of their tripod for rm345 something. its a good buy,

if u really wan to know the weight limit of a tripod, the smallest number u find, thats the limit. a chain breaks at its weakest link.
*
Oh. I see. The BH-xx is a one knob thingy. I hate that. The cheapest B-xx is RM208, loading capax 6kg. Should be enough. Shashinki is selling like.. tripods in a set. Comes with a BH-xx head. Can I customize my own tripod package? Like remove the cheap head and top up for a better one?

good morning! so early I have googling about Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM macro (A mount) and find out it price rm3600 from shashinki. anyone alpha user got use this lens?

I am funding for a mid tele portrait lens and same time if have macro 1:1 capability. But at this price tag of 3600, seem i can work on alternative solution as well. below is my thought, what do you think?

Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM
Price: 3600
Mid Telephoto: 105mm (FF)
Macro: 1:1 MFD 1 feet
AF: AF + HSM -fast and near silence
IS/OS: Is a waste feature for alpha since we have SSS (unsure if shoot macro need to use this OS rather than SSS - do not have any macro shoot experience)
Build: Weather sealed, fairly light and fairly solid
Performance: 8 macro lenses review from techradar, ranked at 2nd after Zeiss Planar, consider the best among canikon, sony macro lenses

Alternative purchase
Samyang 85 1.4
Price 1200
Mid Telephoto: 85mm (FF) - good for APS-C
Macro: N/A
AF: MF
IS/OS: N/A
Build: people its build solid and heavy
Performance: someone say its IQ second to Zeiss 85 1.4G just without AF

Sony 100 2.8 macro
Price 2300
Mid Telephoto: 100mm (FF)
Macro: 1:1
AF: common AF
IS/OS: N/A
Build: not thing special
Performance: according to techradar, inconsistent sharpness at centrem, etc
*
The Samyang is not a 1:1 macro lens. I'd suggest the Tamron SP90. There's no point having SSM on macro lenses since you'll be using it in mf if you're serious.

Haiyo trust me you will NOT need ssm. I've never used AF with that lens before. Never.

the camera was held in a portrait orientation and captured horizontally.. think creative if you're to be a photographer...

Newbieee.. in that case, you're under-utilizing your macro lens, you need to expand your view, up your skills... who says macro lenses ONLY have to be used for macro work without AF? Even some of my macro work uses AF and who says macro lenses can't be used as a normal 90mm/100mm/105mm tele lens? In those situations, why not AF then?
*
Macro using AF? It's so difficult to lock, by the time you have locked your focus your subject has flown away. Also if you accidentally move abit after locking your focus, you try to re-lock and that stupid lens starts to hunt again? Regarding the tele lens I strongly do not suggest it because the quality of sp90 taking non- macro shots sucks! The colour is so dull, not sharp, etc. Btw that's just me. I'm just saying. He can go ahead and buy any lens. Just hope that he doesn't regret spending extra for something he doesn't need. It's not my money anyways.

QUOTE(fansoption @ Jun 25 2012, 01:05 PM)
since i bought SP90 until now i never use AF hahaha.

Okay la, maybe not not sharp, but the colour.. im very sure my 16105's colour is better than the SP90. And the 16105 is NOT an expensive lens. And yet the colour is better than the SP90? hmm.gif What does it make the SP90 then?

QUOTE(lwliam @ Jun 25 2012, 05:58 PM)
Newbieee aka noob. When did I ever mention macro of ONLY bugs? Please read carefully. My usage of macro lens is not limited to only insects, as I've pointed out, it's a 90mm bright prime, in my case, 100mm prime. And the SP90 isn't sharp? You're joking me/us right?
*
Oh. When did I ever mention that YOUR macro is for bugs only? Please read carefully too. smile.gif

QUOTE(ahpingko @ Jun 25 2012, 07:00 PM)
hahaha...sp90 not sharp and dull?...thats why don bother to get so many premium lens when you cant even handle it properly....color dull or not most of the time depend on the white balance..try to read up on white balance as well as try it out..AWB will only give you the most accurate colors when the sun is super bright..it will give you a dull colors when the sun is not bright/low lightings..play around white balance and the tinting can give you a whole new experience with color moods..

don waste your expensive stuff..make use of it more frequently..think out of the box..else, it is better to keep it into the box and get a kitlens...use it until you are fully capable to pull a decent shot before you touch the premiums... tongue.gif  tongue.gif
*
Oh. So when you wanna meet up so that I can pass all of my lenses to you so that all of my lenses can be fully utilised?

Hi guys,

I need your kind suggestion on some tele/zoom lens... i have 2 copies in my mind now, but i could not make a decision which to get...

Both of the lens are Minolta lens, 70-210 F4 (beercan) or 35-105 F3.5-4.5 (marco hacked) lens...

both also has good review online but duno which to get...

i has a sony 50mm F1.8 prime and tammy 17-50 F2.8 now...
please comments...
*
Of course the beercan! I've had the 35-105 before this. Nothing great. In fact I find my 1855 kit lens better. To use 35mm on a crop sensor is a super bad idea. Also, you already have the tamron 1750, why do you want another lens that overlaps with your current lens? But also, beercan is double the price.

Sorry, cannot contain my excitement. Sorry if it is somewhat boring stuff. I'm just so over-excited now. laugh.gif

The British newspaper, The Daily Mail, also published my photos and article on the fighting tigers, although I'm not so sure why they want to put in so many of these photos. I provided them with many so that they get to choose and not everyone will need to publish the same photo... but guess these guys wants them all! tongue.gif
