Bro....just add another 60 buck can get ADIZERO ACE 3 M model....lighweight trainers...i was using it. not bad
*
RM260 for Adizero Ace 3 ? Thts cheap... how many percent discount is that ? I used Adizero Ace in 2010... finally retired it a couple of months ago after 400+ km, & the outsole came off edi.. too much running in the rain maybe... I ran 2 of my 1st half marathons in it, after that it became my 10K shoes, then my interval/tempo shoes... it didn't last that long for me... too heavy perhaps.. me.. not the shoes.. tongue.gif

Tenno, you should know Adidas factory outlet in Summit. Very fast the shoes will be transferred there, when new colour/design comes in. Check that place out regularly. Once transferred there, the price will be 30% cheaper and some times additional 20%, if you buy any 2nd item.

I know tht place..but I've nvr been there.. I frequent the outlet in Bangi instead... but, since I no longer use Adidas shoes, it's not an issue lh...

1. counted the cadence 4 times in the middle of run, 174, 174, 182, 182. all in slightly faster than current pace, but still comfortable.
2. when you said heel lift, was knee lift similar? or did u mean lift heel towards butt? sweat.gif I'm not lifting both knee n heel high, more down to earth  smile.gif
3. I have issue on arm-leg sync: I'll be running faster (feel like in good form), but will burnt out faster.  sweat.gif
4. not sure on "slightly twist of your spine will spreading the force to your arm and lower body", may you elaborate more?
Heel lift ? More like knee lift... forefoot strikers will drive the knee forward.. if U lift Ur heel too high (towards Ur butt) U'll be running in place.. not to mention it looks funny too....

Cadence U count on one leg only.. counting on both legs will give U that kinda numbers (in the hundreds)... just divide by two la.. easy..

Ok what... I started with a Power shoes, RM69... used it until the outsole split into a few parts tongue.gif Then went to Penang, found Mizuno Wave Aero at Jusco cheap sale... still have the shoes until now... keep it for sentimental reasons... biggrin.gif

I've worn Power, Mizuno, NB, Newton, Adidas, Asics, Brooks. Right now for short races (10-12K) I'll use Asics Gel Hyperspeed 3, have had the shoe since last year, but that one is a true racer, dun last long, I dun think it'll last until end of this year. For HMs currently I'm happy with my Brooks Pure Cadence, & before that I had no probs with Newton. I set my HM PB with Newton. For training, tempos, intervals, anything less than 12K, I use Asics Gel Speedstar 5. For LSD I stick to my Brooks.

I'm currently carrying an injury & the doc's diagnosed my feet as flat. But I think since I'm midfoot/forefoot striker, I dun think shoe type matters. I've tried support/flat foot shoes, but I dun like the bulk & I dun think I need all that support becoz the support is on the heel. Why the hell shud I use a shoe with thick heel support when I dun even land on my heel when I run ?

When choosing a shoe, the first thing that will come to mind would be the brand, really. If Ur a Nike fan, U'd look for Nike shoes, a Brooks fan would do the same & head straight to Brooks' store.. Then U will see whether that favorite brand of Urs have any shoes that matches Ur feet type & Ur running style. Then U wud see whether the shoe falls within Ur budget, after that U'll look for Ur favorite color, whether it matches Ur clothings, etc. I believe this is true for most ppl. RM200-300 will get U some good shoes if U look hard enuff.

For me, recommending a shoe to anybody would be akin to telling somebody what U think is good for them. Of course we can recommend things like cushioning, feet type & all, but in the end, the decision is Urs. What works for me might not work for other ppl. I know what I want from a shoe, I know what to look for in a shoe & I'm not afraid to try. I've given away some shoes that didn't fit me although I thought it wud, I thought I've chosed carefully, like what happened to my NB MR796 (or 795, can't remember). I gave it away with less than 100km logged, becoz I chose wrong. After a few years of running, & trial & error, I think I've got enuff experience to make the right choice. Now, while I can help ppl make choices, I wud never let ppl choose based solely on my recommendations.

Sir, I've been TS for this topic for 4 versions edi, that means 10,000 posts, at least. I've already put some articles in the 1st page about how to choose a shoe & there are some very comprehensive articles about it at Running Warehouse. I dun mind sharing but sometimes when U keep answering the same thing it can get tiring. For a shoe freak to get tired answering questions about shoes, well...

The basic things about choosing a shoe will remain the same, now & forever. Shoe brands, models, technology, of course will change over time.

Newbies, just run 1st la. Some of U dun even know how much U love the sport yet. Run 1st, enjoy the simplicity of the sport & dun burden Urself with gadgets, shoes, etc.

Side stitches
I've already posted about side stitches in the old thread... Pls consider this ppl... solids can stay in our stomach for up to 4 hrs... eat too much to late be4 a race or a run & it will come back & haunt U.

Socks
When I first started running I used running socks from FOS, RM9 only per pair I think. Very thick, hot. Then I graduated to Nike running socks, but for half marathons where my feet will get soaked, not good.. blister. Then I found Injinji... been using it since 2009. Short distance, long distance, all good. Comfy, light. But still won't prevent my feet from getting soaked (in sweat). Nowadays, for 10K or less, I'd use any socks, Nike, Brooks, not an issue.. sometimes I even go sockless... but for long distance, only Injinji for me.

Wait till U see how much Newton is selling @ Athlete's Circle... U'll need installment plan to buy it... tongue.gif

Omega Z, for me the choice is yours whether U start with a cheap shoe, or straightaway purchase Gel Kayano. It depends on a person's needs, how much he is willing to invest & as I've said many times in this forum, whether U like running that much to get an RM300 shoes... If money is no issue, then I dun see why not. If Ur not sure how much U like running yet, maybe U wanna take it easy & buy Power shoes 1st, like I did. Let's say if U already purchased an RM300-400 shoes & U learn after 50km U dun really like running that much, maybe it's a waste of money.

But there are ppl with special needs. Needs that can only be satisfied with an RM300 shoes. Like cushioning. If a person needs superior cushioning becoz of previous medical conditions, or maybe injury, then there's no other choice but to go for a branded shoe which will surely be expensive.

The choice is yours... rclxms.gif

I saw a few Minimus at NB Sunway on Sunday... (wow..it rhymes !!! tongue.gif )... I'm not quite sure what the hype about Minimus is all about... on paper it looks okay, but after seeing it, it's not that light, the outsole looks like it won't grip anywhere, & the sole is pretty thick, altho it is zero drop...
