QUOTE(detectivedonuts @ Mar 17 2012, 08:11 PM) where did get ur huaraches? wud be nice to train with one. sometime after got home from work i do a short run between 3-4km barefoot, at least once per week.. diy one, ask outsole from the cobbler at road side. then experiment different kind of laces, now feel leather strap is the best but bit expensive la but it still cost less than rm30. if using nylon cord, cost is less than rm12. all the tutorial is available in you tube. |

QUOTE(ultr4lite @ Mar 17 2012, 09:48 PM) Friends, try to achieve good form and cadence before you aiming for good timing. and get enough time for you leg to recover between run. and have fun man, it's boring just to race against time.Need advice: Am currently trained mostly for 5K each session at 7:30 pace since Jan-Feb 2012 on road, then going 7:03 on March, and adding some dreadmill for 7:03 (8.5kph) but with incline on 1.0, once a week doing hill training with interval incline (symbolized as %), ie: Repetition of 400m at %1.0, %3.0, %1.0, %4.0, %1.0, %5.0 (total of 2.4K), repeat another 1 set, and last 200m going sprint at 6min pace or whatever pace seem applicable. Aiming for 100K per month (Jan and Feb success |

QUOTE(ultr4lite @ Mar 18 2012, 04:01 PM) Thanks man. In the midst of disciplining my arm swing. Yet leg to foot swing ain't that good. Tried to follow POSE but its hard adapt in slow pace. try very short stride and fast cadence, you don need to lift your heel as high as suggested by Pose, it will be lifted naturally when you run faster. when trying to sync your arm and leg, focus on your core (spine) and the slightly twist of your spine will spreading the force to your arm and lower body. just remember your body move together as one unit, you do not need to exert any force to push or pull. all this literature is available on those books and articles and it does help me to run faster. |

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Mar 18 2012, 05:35 PM) One thing is that, you don't need to force cadence to be increase if you are running real slow (today I tried to run 8 min pace with high cadence, making real small baby step). The goodness of high cadence step diminished, your strides become inefficient. Excellent.. yeah..it's a habit once you cultivated then it's highly addictive hehe.. beware.as what ssyycc said , to run better, simply run more (frequency not mileage boost all the way). When you run fast, all those pros talk will come naturally. When you run more, you get fitter. When you get fitter, you run faster. When you run faster, you covered more distance, when you cover more distance you run even better. I learned from SCKLM clinic, try to time based aim for a start, distance base will be very stressful especially when you are just starting, 5km is a lot for people who never run in their life, try something like 30 minutes aim, run 15 minutes into a road, then make a u-turn after that. |

The perfect running shoes never exists, if you have a flexible and light shoes, it will be good enough for training.
For those runner who is not loaded and has limited resources, do not get discouraged by this. No money to buy branded stuff doesn't mean you can't train properly. There is no such thing as no good shoes mean low performance. Running sports suppose to be free, and everyone can run without paying anything to any one (if you are creative enough). |

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Mar 31 2012, 11:51 PM) There's a barefoot group in facebook.. vff is easier than barefoot running, it takes a lot of time to season your feet to be able to run longer distance barefoot I consider barefoot as dangerous! that's why I am wearing huaraches. thanks sky.live for the info, will look for that group in fb. |

QUOTE(SYAMiLLiON @ Apr 12 2012, 03:50 PM) Need advice here. Izzit advisable to change my normal running shoes straight to zere drop shoes. Or i need to used transition shoes first such as newton trainer first before try zero drop shoes. I'm using Adizere Boston now btw. My feet feel itchy to try zero drop shoes now Yes you can, but make sure you cut your mileage to very little and progress up slowly. |

QUOTE(egyprince @ May 9 2012, 03:21 PM) It take pretty long time for the arch pain to recover. I was thinking will my arch injury before my 10k run come from few days ago when I m running at 5min pace on a trackmil. Might b running too fast for my current level. Haha It's difficult to diagnosed if you misuse your muscle or how you injured them. But do check your running form, do you overstride, means your leg way infront of your center of gravity? This is the most common form that cause injury. Yesterday I try to do some running but still feeling the pain so I stop after a while. Another culprit will be that you push using your toe or feet when you run, we suppose to lift, land and keep balance instead of push your leg downward or backward. All this ideas come from POSE, Chi running and even barefoot style running. This post has been edited by ssyycc: May 9 2012, 06:26 PM |
