The important thing is to learn from experience....firstly, learn how to backup your stuff ...(ie EFS, contacts, sms, calendar events, apps, etc)...titanium backup, my backup pro and HC-Ktool is a good start...

and then try to flash some Roms....and experience it......but beware, once you start flashing, very difficult to stop 

To be safe, invest in an USB Jig in case you brick your phone. The USB Jig is cheap and can help to remove Yellow Triangle too...

Just flash the cf kernel and you're rooted. Then you can use TB to backup if you wanna flash custom rom
