it was brilliant....though at first glance it looks very japanese but im won over when i got to sit in it.
in my opinion proton is doing things right as the ride and road holding of our cars in general, inclusive of the gearbox has a very continental feel to it. thumbup.gif

Haha.. If aluminium I will do myself.. Now the cracking part that I'm worried, like those thermal wrap. Since I'm gonna use those fire safety grade type of material, I wonder will it crack?

Mine are cap Ayam galvanized steel only

Added on March 17, 2012, 5:55 pmAnyone knows how hot is the extractor is?

never mind, u do first, i standby extinguisher...
  thumbup.gif

what about a combo of both materials...the fireblanket goes up to 600 degrees centigrade and its directly behind the radiator blower and shield that whole bundle with aluminum or the other way around, aluminium first then the blanket?
*
My plant is to wrap the extractor with the blanket, to heat shield and also dampened the sound of the extractor. Then install a home made heatshield

from my understanding the wrap is used to keep the heat of the exhaust in and within the engine bay and using the radiator to cool it down. hence, wrapping the manifold will contain most of the temperature to the front of the car. the purpose is not to deflect or dispel heat from the exhaust system but to contain it for optimum pressure build up.  whistling.gif

hmm.gif I wonder if insulating both the extractor and intake snorkel/air filter box would improve things. Insulate extractor = Reduce heat in engine bay. Insulate snorkel/filter box = keep it cool all the time. As we know cold intake is always preferable whistling.gif
*
I think, the air filter box need to be wrapped with a layer of cool gel pad hmm.gif

Insulation traps the heat in the extractor la. If it traps the heat in the engine bay, why do it in the first place? I'm talking about wrapping the extractor pipes and filter box lor. Not the hood.
Ur ever faithful/loyal right hand leh? whistling.gif

But the purpose of the cooling gel is to absorb heat in the first place sweat.gif If u insulate the gel from absorbing the heat then what's the point of putting it there in the first place? laugh.gif
