Out of curiosity, if I'm now on a custom ROM, for example ICS Stunner 4.3. What would it prompt when I select "update software" from the settings?
Will it prompt me my latest Stock ROM for updates?

yes it is best to read all the noob guide over at xda~! and make sure whenever you choose a rom, read the flashing instructions. Different roms have differents methods. Happy Learning  rclxms.gif

thanks for the heads up..
will certainly learn more.
What I know right now with my current Stock ROM LC2, I can only flash with custom Deox ROM to have full rooting first before venturing to other Custom ROMS biggrin.gif

I never use stock mail as so limited with features
Suggest you try freemail app K9 Mail . It has more features, too long to list here but major points:

I'm using the Gmail app and the mails normally in html format can't fit the screen of the Note. That means it's too big. Gonna try the "dog" mail you suggested biggrin.gif

one thing to ask about the K-9 mail. Does the mail completely download and store in the phone?

Yes it is stored, You can define download size of mail up to 10 Mb or even any size
*
that's what I don't like too..
storing in the phone will eventually get bigger as the longer you use, the more mails you would have.
The limit of 10MB for example limits each mail to be a max downloadable size of 10MB right?
What happens to the mails which are bigger than 10MB? will it download partially or will it not download at all?

Like i said you can set no limit - it will be fully downloaded. Yes 10 MB per email. Not too sure about size for the free app. I am using the paid version Kaiten Mail. However all the features I mentioned is in the free app

Got some problem with the push. Doesn't seem to push the email.
Something wrong with the settings I think.. hmm.gif

Flashing ODEX Stock ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025) will not give me CWM capabilities right?

Can I then inject CWM via Mobile Odin?

Current: Stock ROM LC2
Planning to flash ODEX Stock ROM LC2, then inject CWM, then I can flash other Custom ROM.

Pls advise notworthy.gif

Just download Mobile Odin
Download CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LC1-v5.3-CWM5.zip from Chainfire site
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784
Select kernel as CF-Root
Flash it
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
I've now got the files below:
- Rooted_Stock_Odex_N7000DXLC2.tar.md5
- CSC_N7000OLBLC2.tar.md5
- MODEM.tar.md5
- CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LC1-v5.3-CWM5.zip (after unzip I got the zImage file)

I think with the above, I'm good to go for rooting and injecting CWM.
Question: Where do I put the zImage file? Is it at /sdcard root directory? I do not have an external SD card.

Follow my instructions - you must do CWM separately. Extract it to tar level. Flash the tar file
You can copy the chainfire tar file to internal sdcard
*
A little confuse here..
In your instructions from your blog, it is guide to downgrade the ROM to something lower than LC2 so that the kernel can support CWM.

Flashing the ODEX Stock ROM LC2 is not considered as downgrading the ROM right?
I know that I have to inject CWM separately after flashing ODEX Stock ROM LC2 via Odin 1.85.

My understood steps:
1. Launch Odin
2. Put Note into Recovery Mode (Vol Dn + Home + On)
3. Once in Recovery Mode, connect micro USB
4. I should see "ID:COM" highlighted in yellow
5. Ensure only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" box are checked
6. Load PDA, PHONE and CSC (all the files are available after extracting from Rooted_Stock_Odex_N7000DXLC2.rar)
7. Hit the Start button. Once the Note reboot, I'm done and the Note is rooted.

Is this part correct?

My blog guide to downgrade more appropriate for those whose roms are KL* to LB2 . For LC1 n LC2 since you have a prerooted rom available , no need to go through downgrade process

point 2: And it is DOWNLOAD mode not recovery mode with vol down+power+home
point 6: you need to select too PIT file
*

Great, now I can go ahead to get my Note rooted.
By selecting PIT, PDA, PHONE and CSC it will totally wipe all the data in the Note, correct?

Next to inject the CWM:
1. Copy CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LC1-v5.3-CWM5.tar file after extracting from CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LC1-v5.3-CWM5.zip to the Note internal memory under /sdcard root
2. Install Mobile Odin
3. "Open File" and select CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LC1-v5.3-CWM5.tar
4. Flash

Now I'm done with rooted and CWM injected on my Note.
Uncle Benny, please help to verify my steps again. Thanks. notworthy.gif

Yes flashing the prerooted rom will wipe phone
Step 3 : place file in KERNEL
*
Sorry, could you kindly explain further on how to place file in KERNEL?
By placing file you mean CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LC1-v5.3-CWM5.tar right?

For MidNote 3.0 Custom ROM, if I follow the instruction strictly, that means I will first need to flash MidNote 2.1 (GB) then only flash MidNote 3.0 (ICS). Is that right?

Or I can straight flash to MidNote 3.0 (ICS) since I'm on the ODEX Stock ROM LC2 which is already a GB?

I have say many times follow strictly. Don't be a dead hero taking shortcut. The 2.1 is the base rom very important must flash
aiyoh why you guys never want to follow n want shortcut. Somenore inexperienced in flashing n want to take shortcut
The developer knows better than all of us. Just follow his instructions without fail

That's why I'm asking.
Thanks again for the bump on my head laugh.gif

There is only 1 PIT file for 16GB version right?

http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-not...cs-xxlp1-56722/

Uncle Benny, can you confirm if this link provides the right PIT file for the 16GB Note?
Thanks. notworthy.gif
