Hi Bros,

Looking for a dry box now to keep my growing stuff.

Currently, i'm eyeing a 25L or a 33L depending on budget. Also, planning to get maximum of 3 or 4 lenses only. So i do not need like a 40L one. laugh.gif

So when purchasing a dry box, what should i look for and consider? There's a few things like digital, analogue, and warranty. How prone are they to breakdowns?

And also my budget is around Rm2XX. Will consider 2nd hand units as well.

Thanks in advance. Hope you guys can share some experience. notworthy.gif

i am using a aipo 48L.

house:
a) 4 lens, 80-200mm, 24-70mm, 135mm, 35mm.
b) 3 units of SB900 in soft case.
c) D700 with grip, D90 with grip, F50
d) 3pcs light stand's speed light holder with triggers.

still could go for estimated, 1 more 24-70mm, 1 more pro body, 1 more SB900.

so far so good. never breaks down, i remember first run needs around 1.5 days to get the RH% from 70% to 38%. after that its quite fast.

price RM450 ~ RM500

aipo what i heard is the AC plug adapter always break down. but so far mine is still ok. smile.gif

hope that helps...

One thing bad about method like this is the fact that the air might be too dry for the equipment. It will cause the rubber part to dry out and crack.

the AC adapter issue apply to the early 2watts adapter(units before 2010). the new adapter all comes with 5watt. no more issue. coz i am one of the victim, but they swap the new adapter for me for free (even after 1 year)

u have to check the sponge behind, and do servicing. sometimes the sponge is not properly place, it will take forever to even go down to 50%.

mine can drop from 70% to 45 in 3 hours. aipo48L

As long as you are using lens, needs a dry box to prevent fungus. When moisture gets inside your lens, either because of direct moisture exposure (like rain) or simply because of very high humidity in your local climate, fungus can begin to grow.

You can DYI drybox for temporary, a plastic container with Dehumidifier (Hippo), by attaching the lens to your camera will not guarantee that fungus will not grow.

Dry Hippo collects water and after it expires, it becomes wet hippo that i would assume is bad for your lens.

Anyone show Eureka Dry box before? I saw in a shop in KL festival City. Rm330 for 40L with 5 years warranty.

Thinking either this or octupus already. icon_rolleyes.gif

Is there any difference for the analog and digital setting? Consider to buy Aipo AS-21l soon since budget a bit tight and I currently have 1 body,18-105lens and a flash gun soon only. Is it worthy to buy AS-21l or should buy a bigger size like AP-38EX? icon_question.gif
