hey guys,

wanna ask for some advices...i wan to improve altis handling and fast cornering stability while not sacrificing its comfort and NVH so much (alrdy plan to add on bars too)...any suggestions on

1. tyre brand and series
2. tyre spec (eg 215/55/R16)...prefer 17" but not sure on the thickness and width
3. rim brand and type (i heard better use those light weight rims for toyota cars)

thanks in advance

***update***

tyre profile confirm 215/45/R17

recommended brand and series by other people:
-michelin ps3
-goodyear eagle f1 assymmetric (not the latest assymmetric 2)
-goodyear f1 directional 5
-hankook v8
-hankook v12
-conti premium contact 2
-other suggestions???

how bout rim brand and type (lightweight)?

sounds like you want to be fast and at the same time want to save fuel. sweat.gif

BTW, changing tires or rims wont reduce the body roll. If you want the body roll to be cancelled out completely, adjustable suspension is your only way.

I'll pass on the tyre suggestion but normally a tyre which saves fuel wont be good in handling and vice versa. smile.gif
*
lol...okok...then how bout juz improve handling and better at high speed cornering?any suggestions for tat?

QUOTE(eddychstu @ Mar 12 2012, 02:16 AM)
215/45/17 is the recommended spec from TRD.

hmm...will it b the recommended tyre spec works best if install all other setups as specified in the sheet?coz definitely i won't touch the suspension and other things tat will void warranty...

- that is TS's problem pretty much. cant have the best of both worlds. either draw a balance and compromise, or go with 1 without the other.

- after the track day experience, 100% agree with this smile.gif
my semi-slick tires gripped the road firmly and having full control over the road. however body roll, from outside spectator's view, my car was rocking like a boat  sweat.gif

err alrdy updated my requirement...any recommendation?pls recommend something at least...

Try eibach springs and UR bars (front, back, lower arms). It does reduce my altis body roll last time. Only slightly. Dont expect too much. Altis is not a good car for handling to start with.
*
yea planning to install those bars but not springs lo...later void my warranty ler...but for now bars should help la...i heard someone installed front strut, rear antiroll and tower bar or something like tat...wat is tower bar?

QUOTE(fr0sti3 @ Mar 12 2012, 11:16 AM)
well if u intend to keep the speedo range & comfort level
go with 205/50/17 or 215/50/17 tires
*
wat do u mean by keep speedo range?the odometer will deviate from normal range?comfort can be compromised to a certain extent lo...i know if use bigger tyre profile will cut down the comfort...but it's ok as long as not cut down alot...

Link between front strut tower. Typically 2 points (of mounting). Depend on car model/make some have 3 and 4 points. Prevent/synchronize sway between front struts.
*
so tower bar is actually the front strut link?

i mean tyre...wider tyre imporves dry grip..not neccesary larger rim, but usually larger rim has wider profile...so ur choice is nice..
*
oic...i'm planning to go for 215/45/R17 but not sure which brand and series is good...so far recommended ones r michelin ps3, goodyear eagle f1 assymmetric (not the latest assymmetric 2) and directional 5, hankook v8 and v12, conti premium contact 2...any idea?

how much is your budget?

if your budget is unlimited, get GY F1 A2. or PS3 or Dicrectional 5 if u cannot find F1A2.

CPC2 not on same level,  hankook are when u are on a tight budget.
*
hmm...not sure wat's average mid range tyre will cost...but of coz not so expensive and high-end la...not going 2 use my car 2 race lol...juz wanna improve handling and cornering stability...but i dowan trade off comfort so much lo...later bcome very bumpy...so mid-end tyres should fare well...i know GY F1 A2 and PS3 damn expensive...but i juz put it up as info...not going 4 it...

bang for buck, hankook v12, not sure about the price. or proxes T1R.

xm2= fuel saving.

icic...hankook v12 and proxes t1r is it good all-rounder tyre?xm2 is fuel saving but in terms of handling and cornering stability seems not good

all rounder is the one ps3, f1a2, they very emphasis on wet handling also.

T1r and V12 less on wet. but for medium budget, T1R and V12 is worth a look. you can find reviews and tyre test from internet too.
*
icic...ok...i saw got people posted a tyre review by germany mag but not sure how 2 find it...google can't find...do u know of this?

ya, F1A2 newer, replaced F1A1
*
how much F1A1?its performance will b on par with v12 and t1r?

QUOTE(DSV4600 @ Mar 12 2012, 02:51 PM)
Better maintain your 205/55/R16 specs since you want comfort as well.
Just change to lightweight rims & use either PS3, Hankook V12 or Yokohama C.Drive 2. Switching to 45 profile will definately sacrifice a lot of comfort and handling gains won't be much unless you want to use this car for track.

Added on March 12, 2012, 2:52 pmGoodyear tyres are also recommended, especially their new F1 Series, but reviews have commented they are noisy, but handling is superb.
Can even be better than PS3.
*
lets say if i use 215/50/R17 or 215/55/R17 tyres will it b ok?i won't b going for the new F1 series coz over budget liao...im' hoping mayb F1A1 got similar performance as v12 or c.drive2...will it b?how much per piece?

If you die-die going for 17' rims, then please follow TRD specs since I saw someone posting it earlier.
For tyre choice, it's very subjective. One man's poison, another man's meat. For me, I'm a Hankook kaki.
If I can't find Hankook, then I would go for Michelin PS3 as 2nd choice, since I saw it in action at the 4G1 Series track day yesterday in the wet. Superb water dispersion & grip, even when tyres was almost bald.

For price of tyres, please refer to Tyre Price list here or at Autoworld.
*
hmm ok...then u got experience using v12?how was it?

warmed semi slicks also damn good in wet (LOL! laugh.gif)

anyways TS: you need to be more specific on your performance/comfort priorities.

if comfort is your priority, c.drive 2 or even the high end advan Db is among the best choice one can have for tires smile.gif
*
hmm...more inclined towards better handling and cornering stability but not 2 the extent whole ride became very bumpy and noisy lo

I'm using Ventus V8 AKA V2 Blackbird. Superb handling & grip, wet weather is excellent.
My friend is using V12, same feedback, but even better. Sat with him yesterday as he speed around Dato Sagor in the wet.
*
kinda expected tat...saw a few good reviews on v12...seems like a mid-end all rounder choice of tyre..is it better to change to 215/45/R17 profile or stick to 205/55/R16 profile but change better tyre?
